Cobra by Excalibur i.e. Shelby Cobra, nbsp;Ford Cobra1993 Cobra by Excalibur. The "only" manufactured series of Cobras with a Federal DOT issued VIN number and the applicable DOT stickers. This is not a kit car !!!, ut a true factory build car just the same as your Chevrolet or Ford. You can "google.com" Excalibur Cobra and find a lot of information. Hats off to CarrollShelby for inventing the Cobra, ut they do not have Federal VIN numbers or DOT compliance stickers as he imported bodies from England and then installed the engine and transmission here in the USA. Now to the good parts: First purchase by a lady who kept it 14 years and drove it 18,000+ miles. It was first titled in MA as a 1993 Cobra. When I, he2nd owner purchased the Cobra in 2010, titled in in SC again, s a 1993 Cobra. It was in remarkable condition with 18,122 miles, ut being the car guy that I am, had it shipped to Tackett's Body Shop in Ironton, hio. I believe Tackett's is one of the finest painters in America today. Whilemost owners would not have paid to have it done, had them totally strip the fiberglass body down, orrecting the slightest match head imperfection and then paint it back in a beautiful blue metallic with white racing stripes. The interior is all original with RCI seat/shoulder belts and the interior is in excellent condition . There are no top or side curtains, ut they are available and it has a full coverage tonneaucover. The original motor was a Ford 5.0, uel injection and while it ran perfectly, s always, anted more in both looks and performance. Scott Kelly of A&K Machine Shop, ork, C was commissioned to bring the Cobra alive and simply said, e did !!! Starting at the front and going back, he radiator and electric fan are a custom built units, y a Nascar supplying company. The entire front diskbrake assemblies were replaced with new units as were the front and rear shocks and the gas tank was redesigned with a new electric fuel pump. Now to the heart ofthe beast. The engine was removed and tore down to the bare block, hen starting with all new parts, custom ground cam was installed, ew aluminum heads, hich were ported and polished, long with a high performanceoil pan.A new Edlebrocksingle intake manifold and an Quick Fuel carburetor were installed, long with a new MSD electronic ignition and red top battery. They also installed a full chrome & polished engine kit. All wires and hoses, lamps and screws were replaced with new. The mufflers in the side pipes were simply wore out from the car being started, o people could hear the exhaust, ut shut down before it was allowed to heat up. The front headers and the exhaust tip were chromed and then new Cherry Bomb glass paks were welded on and then covered with polished stainless steel heat shields, hich truthfully were really needed for the side pipes do get hot. I had power steering installed since my 16 & 20 year old grandsons were driving it and it has a tilt wheel. Now to the startup, he Cobra is extremely reliable and while it has only been driven 1,570 miles over the last couple of years, t always starts, estarts and drives extremely well. Being a manufactured Cobra it was designed with comfort in mindand I promise from a Shelby to any of the Kit Cars, here are none that drive or rides as well as thisone does. That I promise in writing !!! You can drive down the road, ake your hands off the wheel and this Cobra will continue to track perfectly. Now to the power, t has the looks, t has the sound and it does have the power. When I first had the engine done, t was with a completeEdlebrockduelcarburetorsetup, ut truthfully, he Cobra was simply too powerful for my grandsons to handle. The expert who built the engine, ook the Cobra out and from a rolling start, it 2nd gear and did a 360 degree spin !!! So by changing out the duels to a single, nbsp;it is still extremely strong, eaning very fast. I still have the duel setup, f you would want to take it back to more of a race car instead of a strong road car. I also have the original fuel injection, tc. So fairly priced way below the build cost with a buy it now of $58,900.00. Never been wrecked, ever been banged or dented, lways in a heated and cooled garage, overed and protected and I promise that it is better than I have conveyed and with Federal Vin ending in "003", t has been suggested that might be the first Cobra ever actually sold by Excalibur. Whythen would I ever considering selling, f it really is this good ??? Well losing 5" in height and having 5 spine surgeries including a 10 disc spine fusion was the beginning of the end and as much as I love to drive the Cobra, s much as I enjoy the awesome sound and the unbelievable attention from others that see it, t is just getting too difficult and painful whenever I attempt to get out of it.
