Car description |
---|
This is a beautifully restored 1913 Overland Model 69 Touring.Restoration was completed in 1997 while in the current owner's care. It starts well, uns and drives as it should, nd presents itself beautifullyin it's authentic colors. Overlands were well-built, 0 horsepower cars. The 1913's feature right hand drive, ith center shift. The 1913's were also the last year of acetylene headlights and kerosene side and tail lamps. This era Overland is well-known in Horseless Carriage circles for their reliability and comfortable touring at35-40 MPH.
It is absolutely complete with full side curtains, op boot, nd tonneau cover; all of which were made at the same time as the top. The interior is full leather, iamond tufted as original. The authentic grey linoleum on the floorboards and running boards is still nice, s it was covered with protective carpets for many of the 'show' years, lthough no longer perfect. The nickel plating was redone at the time of restoration. The headlight rims are shown missing in one of the photos as they were out for replating, ut they are now back on the car as shown in other photos. It has dual spare tires on the rear. Tire size is 33x4, orrect size and they make the car sit tall and proud, s well as make the ride smoother, han a car of similar era with smaller tires. It is currently running a Carter BB1 carburetor for added reliability, ut the original Schebler is included in the sale.
This was a very complete, uthentic vehicle to start with. It was very original, ikely never disassembled, ith just one repaint, till retaining the original upholstery when restoration was started. During restoration every part was disassembled, nspected, ebuilt or replaced as needed, nd reassembled. It was restored with the highest quality in mind. This quality was achieved as demonstrated by the car and owner being awarded an AACA First Junior, enior, nd several Preservation awards. Most were earned at Hershey.
The current owner has enjoyed the car for 20 years. Reluctantly, t is offeredso the owner can pursue other vehicles. If you are looking for an early car that is a bit heavier, ore powerful, nd more comfortable than a Model T Ford, his is it.
It is located less than 200 miles from Hershey, n Northern New Jersey. If unsold, t will be available for viewing and sale at Hershey in the Red Field at space RWG 28-29. Feel free to contact me as I am familiar with this car, r contact the owner, ohn, directly at (201)315-7373.
