Side exhausts, ishbone axle links - note both front and rear are solid axles - and the Edelbrock cylinder heads peeking out the side of the hood. The famous engine shop Pick's Racing Engines rebuilt this '53 Mercury 255 Cubic inch engine, he largest Flathead V-8 that Ford ever made. .
