DESCRIPTION / HISTORY OF THE CAR:I bought this Olds Delta 88 Royale in September 2002 (registered at DMV. Wethersfield. CT. on October 4. 2002) from the original family owner. The car was in storage for about eight years (garaged) prior to the purchase. At the time of the inspection and test drive I noticed that the alternator was a little noisy (replaced after the purchase). also that while backing up the car had some hesitations (due to a faulty relay in the transmission that was completely rebuilt after the purchase). The original owner (non smoker. an elderly gentleman) was the only driver of this car (before he passed away in 1994). I am the second owner and only driver of this car since the purchase (also non smoker). I bought this car uniquely as spare or emergency car to my 1987 Chevy Caprice Classic (that is being used for daily driving). also because I liked it very much and it was very well maintained overall. The car was always parked under my double carport and properly maintained all the time. There were no scratches. dings. dents. rusty spots on the car at the time of the purchase. nor at present time. The car was manufactured Nov. 1984 but sold via dealer in 1985 (and considered a 1985 car for tax and registration purpose). The mileage at the time of the car registration was 90. 40 miles. Presently. the car has exactly 99. 15 miles. The car was only driven occasionally (mostly on highway) with circa 9. 00 miles added in 12 years. The car had only two drivers since 1984. the original one and myself. both non-smokers. The back seat is practically like new. unused. SPECIAL REMARKS:- no power windows. no power doors. no power seat- power steering and tilt steering wheel- rear defroster- all lights. signals. break lights. rear defroster. heating system. air conditioner. radio. wipers. horn - in working condition- the car passed all emission tests required in Connecticut (every two years) with very low readings (documents available)- being over 25-year old. presently there is no emission test required in the Connecticut State for this carTERMS OF SALE:- USA / worldwide sale- the car must be picked up from Hartford. USA - on wheels (with the buyer's own plate) or towed - at buyer's expenses- the car can also be shipped anywhere in the USA and worldwide upon buyer's arrangement and expenses- sale as is with no warranty and no returnADDITONAL INFORMATION:For those wondering what caused such degradation on the engine - which was the quietest. the smoothest. and the most balanced one out of all 16 big American cars I've had in the past - here are the facts: 1. sometime in April 2014 after noticing some minor engine hesitations during idle / cold run I decided to have the car checked out by a local garage. After troubleshooting. they called me telling me that the car needs a new distributor cap and brush plus all 8 new spark plugs (premium quality). The job was agreed and done. the car running beautifully again as before. 2. about two weeks later. the symptoms came back and since the previous job was under warranty. I dropped the car again at the same local garage. This time. they told me that the new distributor cap and brush failed. also that they discovered a short in one spark plug wire (plus suggested to have the catalytic converter replaced). The job was agreed and done. the car running beautifully again as before. 3. about three weeks later. the minor hesitations on the cold engine returned. so I dropped the car again at the garage. This time. they told me that the engine needs to have all 7 remaining spark plugs wires replaced (with the new ones that I saved in the trunk out of the set of 8). During the job - as attested by a third-party garage based on their own investigation - the local garage failed to follow the firing order plus they did not properly secured / attached one of the 7 wires. so that the engine misfired. also ran with 7 cylinders only instead of all 8. As a result. the oil pressure dropped to the extreme bottom of 30 psi. also the internal combustion became very weak and inefficient causing a serious anomaly and disturbance for lifters and rocker arms (that started to make noises and remained in either open position or some stopped working entirely). Such damage is irreversible and permanent. The solution is to have the "blown" engine either fixed - or better - replaced with a rebuilt one (similar 307 - 5. 0 Liter used for Olds cars or any other suitable engine fitting there). I was told by a retired mechanic who used to work on such cars that the first thing that should be done is to have the oil pump replaced which might restore the engine's functionality via increased oil pressure and higher combustion. and only then - if this will not help - decide on doing complex engine work. IF YOU ARE NOT TOTALLY COMMITTED. YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LOCATING A FORWARDER. PICKING THE CAR UP. nbsp;OR PAYING FOR THE TRANSPORTATION CHARGES.
