Car description |
---|
This 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado is V8-powered with front-wheel drive and over 500 lb ft of torque. In ‘68 a sleek front end was restyled and carried the 455 V-8 beneath the hood instead of the earlier Toronado's 425.
All factory stock and original. Great running and driving with correct and original Rocket V/8, and automatic transmission. Excellent, straight body with very presentable original paint.Well equipped with vinyl roof, Factory Air, power steering & brakes, dual exhaust, AM-FM Wonderbar radio, power windows, power seats, and power antenna. Excellent interior with combination cloth and vinyl. Clearly stored indoors and well cared for.
Some favour 1966 or 1967 models, but 1968 saw the optional 400bhp engine and front disc brakes, which really made a difference in stopping this 2.5 tonne cruiser. This particular car - a 1968 Toronado Coupe for sale through eBay and also available in-person at our location in Middleville, Michigan- isn’t the GT model, but it still brings 375bhp and over 500 torques of tyre-slaying fury, and is an all-original survivor in great shape with 91,455 miles on the clock. Even the factory air conditioning is functional, and that sea-blue interior is certainly full of 1960s nostalgia.
The earlier cars from the ‘60s are also definitely keepers of the bunch, but for a classic that you will actually be driving, I would trade the 1966/67 design for the updated brakes on the 1968 all day, everyday. The Toronado is more of a cult car than a mainstream hit, but that also makes it a great 1960s muscle car that’s both unique, affordable, and well-mannered considering the front-wheel drive.
Not advertising this as completely pristine and hope we have this Toro listed at a fair figure for someone to really enjoy this piece of interesting American automotive history!
