Car description |

Rare 4-speed! Real 442 with vin # matching 455. Overall very respectable car with a great list of options.
EXTERIOR: Special ordered paint color, has a - in place of the paint code. Clean, straight body. Has original 1970 fenders, it does not have the crumple zones in the jamb that 71 and newer had. Smooth all along the bottoms. Paint is polished glossy. Stripes are painted on. It has 1970 only sport mirrors. The front end trim and bumper are shiny, grills are not broken. The stainless moldings are straight and shiny around the windows and gutters. In back the bumper is rechromed and has the cutouts for the exhaust trumpet tips. The chrome 442 wheels are from a
later model. BF Goodrich tires look great. Door jambs are painted nice, weatherstrips have been replaced. Windshield is replaced. Over all not pristine but very nice.
INTERIOR: Very nice unabused interior. Looking at the dash, it is really clean. The vents, bezels, gauges, heater controls, the doors on the glove box and ashtray are all nice. I just noticed it's a radio delete car. Has the matching cigarette lighter. All the interior lights work- under the dash, some light, even the map light on the mirror. The headliner is nice and tight, visors look real good. It has all the seat belts including the shoulder belts. It is loaded with features- inside hood lock, power windows and seat, rear defog, console, sport wheel and clock. There is some cracking on the edge of the driver seat that can be easily repaired at an upholstery shop, door panels and armrests are excellent. Carpet is excellent. Carpets look pretty new, has embroidered carpeted floor mats. Below the dash is a neatly installed gauge cluster.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has VIN number matching 455 motor. The 70 is the most desirable because it had the highest horsepower. This one has been upgraded even higher. It has an aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb and a set of coated headers. New alternator. Overall things are very clean. The radiator has it's rubber flaps on each side, the correct shroud, proper hose and plastic clamp. New washer bottle, squirters are connected. Has insulation on the bottom of the hood. It features power steering and brakes and factory air conditioning. The A/C has been gone through.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very clean, solid metal, has real nice gray and white spatter paint. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy. Has jacking decals, new weatherstrip. Original trunk light still works. It has a spare and a jack.
UNDERSIDE: It has the rally suspension which includes front and rear sway bars and boxed rear control arms. The front end was completely rebuilt with new ball joints, bushings, shocks etc. The rear suspension is also rebuilt, new bushings and shocks. The floors appear to be very solid, good clean metal. The frame is in real good shape. The bottom of the motor is not freshly painted but it is very dry, starter looks recent. The vin # on the drivers side of the block matches the car. The 4-speed Muncie trans looks very clean. The tunnel where the shifter goes through the floor looks original. The original rear end was a 3.23, recently rebuilt and upgraded to a 3.42 posi. Brakes were serviced, has disc in front. The e-brake cable looks new. Dual exhaust looks good.
I drove this car, very nice. The 4-speed in an Olds is rare. A 4-speed with air conditioning in any muscle car is very rare and desirable. This is a very collectable, investment grade 442.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
