Car description

1957 Oldsmobile Starfire 98 4 door hardtop This is the one year only Earl Harley inspired rocket ship themed 57. This car was restored by the previous owner The paint looks brand new, all chrome is flawless and was clearly re-done, fantastic all original style interior was installed (dash and dashboard like new). It had an engine rebuild. I have restored many cars and it is never possible to regroup the money. Quality paint work like this is 12-15K...the interior another 10K minimum for work this perfect. Chrome work runs into thousands for a big boat like this. The brakes stop like brand new. If you start doing the math you end up with those costs being the starting price on this listing. That does not include cost of the original car itself!.
I currently have many other types of cars and decided to thin down the herd. I do not need to sell and still have garages spaces. I have this Olds and a 55 Bel Air 2dr hardtop for sale. In either case I will not respond to any offer under starting price and do not need to sell. I am not interested in trades. This Olds drives wonderfully and I still enjoy taking it out.I will probably place an ad in Hemmings after this ebay listing expires. The last classic I sold was through Hemmings and I believe it attracts a more serious buyer. With any car this price you should either come see the car or have a qualified appraiser come to take tons of pictures and provide a report.
FYI, the previous owner of this car rented it out for the Cohen Brothers movie "Suburbicon" in 2017. Matt Damon drives it throughout the movie. I generally like movies by the Cohen Brothers but this one was awful in my opinion. But the car looked great. I have a plaque that was in the car's trunk (apparently used at car shows) that documents its use in the movie.
