Car description

1919 Oldsmobile Model 37AT (Touring)Motor No. ED53598Car No. 25085Odometer 19,721Location: Houston, TX (77090)
My Grandfather purchased this car in El Paso, Texas late in 1919. He drove it for for a few years until he got a newer model. He then parked this car in a covered storage shed. There it stayed until my father, at the age of 16 (roughly 1956) expressed an interest in restoring it. My father put the car up on blocks, stripped off the body paint and gave the car a good coat of rust preventative primer. He greased the axles and was able to put oil in the engine and hand turn the crank to get oil to the parts that needed it. (This was the last time the engine was turned). He also purchased a new set of tires and put them on the the wooden rims so the car could be moved to a more secure location.
Around 1970 my father put the car in a covered UHaul truck and moved it from El Paso to Houston, Texas. The car has been up on blocks and in covered, secure storage since then. In the 1970’s my father started to have all of the pieces you see pictured (and others not pictured) professionally re-chromed.
As you can see from the pictures, the majority of the parts to the car are there. We do have most of the upholstery panels but they are in poor condition and would only be good to use as patterns. One of the parts that we can’t find is the hand crank, but we do have the starter key. The soft top hardware appears to be all there as well as any other hardware for the car. To the best of our knowledge we believe the car is virtually complete. There is a "clean" title, but what ever sale paperwork there was has been lost through the years.
This vehicle is an excellent candidate for a full restoration. There are many other parts not pictured. Other than surface rust, I can’t find any structural rust as the car has been in dry storage, up on blocks for at least 85 years.
We have described our vehicle to the best of our abilities, there are no warranties expressed or implied, any opinions expressed are of the sellers own opinion. The Oldsmobile car is sold, “as is.”
