Car description

1964 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible 6.5L 394ci V8 / 3spd Automatic Transmission Red on Red, White Top Excellent Driver VIN: 864M226879 Engine: 6.5L 394ci V8 (#582813) Style: 1964 Starfire 2dr Convertible (64-3667) Body: Lansing, Michigan Assembly Plant (LA) Trim: Red Leather (335) Paint: Regal Mist (L) Build Date: April, Fourth Week (04D) Adds: Dual reservoir brake master, Harrison heavy duty radiator, tachometer. Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. While it has of course been repainted, this was originally a red car. Regal Mist, color code L, a more burgundy-like shade of red. Current red paint looks great, having been repainted once in the 90s. Imperfections include a ding on the hood, minor oxidation on the driver’s rocker trim, a couple scratches down low, a crack on the passenger’s side of the windshield, minor aging of the rearward-facing badged panel, a couple little blisters at the forward corner of the passenger door, and a few dust nibs in the paint scattered about. Polished surfaces are in awesome shape, with the bumpers having been refinished as show chrome in the late 2000s. With the exception of the spots of pitting on the passenger rocker trim, trim pieces are in truly fantastic shape. Panel fitment is spot on, and the doors open and close buttery smooth. Body is laser straight, with no dings aside from the one on the hood. Power windows roll up nice and smoothly and fit snug to the top. White power top is in great shape, having been redone along with the car’s interior in 2006, and the power top cylinders were replaced in 1998. Wheels are in good shape, with no curb rash, just very minor age. Tires are free of dry rot or significant wear despite being nearly 20 years old. Lights and signals are all functional. Interior: Interior is in beautiful shape. Again, please defer to the photos and video. Seats were reupholstered in 2006 and look like they haven't aged a day since. Very nice leatherette interior, no scuffs or burst seams. Dash top is free of any cracks, discoloring, or warping. Radio and speakers are functional, as it will play static and get loud, but the power antenna does not work. Three speed blower fan is functional, heat is good too. This car does not have an air conditioning system. Wipers are good. Interior lights are good, including the glovebox light. Analog clock is not functional. Gauges are all functional, and the five-digit odometer is assumed to have rolled over, as it now reads 14,210. A tachometer has been added on the console, and that is functional. Console is nice and shiny, very minor pitting, and there is a crack in the clear plastic surrounding the gear lever. Right by the N sign (neutral). Red carpeting is in nice shape throughout, with minimal aging, but a couple spots of minor discoloring (lower door panels, back side of lower seatbacks). Sun visors hold their position but the driver’s side is bursting at the seam. A set of red floormats will come with the car as well. Handbrake is functional. Underbody/Under the Hood: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Underbody looks pretty good. There’s a bit of corrosion and signs of rust repair towards the rear, where the frame rails meet the fuel tank, but the rest of the car looks good. Floors and rockers are in very good shape. This car runs and drives extremely well. Truly well-sorted. The car fires right up, idles cool/quiet/steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly and on-time, tracks straight down the road, brakes straight and effectively, steering is nice and direct with no play or noise, and the car is very smooth – no cowl shake or other tendencies of concern. This car was maintained by the same shop for many years, and has had a number of driveability improvements over the years. Just over ten years ago a dual reservoir brake booster was added, as was a re-cored heavy duty radiator. The car will come with a handful of service records from the last owner (owned since ‘94), with the most recent being a flush/reseal of both the transmission and rear end, as well as an oil change. Very much a confidence-inspiring driver with no immediate needs. Buy and jump right into summer enjoyment.
