Car description |

Original Hurst Olds, only 629 built total and this is one of only 220 ever built with a sunroof. I just bought this car back from the collector I sold it to 22 years ago! It was recently frame off restored when we sold it, he put less then 500 miles on the car. It is claimed to be a 4 owner car with 18,000 actual miles. Title is branded as actual miles.
Significant part of muscle car history. This car was developed by Hurst Performance, not Oldsmobile. Much like a Yenko or early Shelby's they were new factory built cars then transformed by a famous performance company. This was the only time the Indy 500 was not paced by a car manufacturer. Hurst was the sponsor that placed the race. Hurst produced cars only 9 times over a 3 decade period, 1972 was the lowest production.
EXTERIOR: 22 year old restoration and it still looks fantastic it's finished in its original Cameo white. You know the body is clean, it stood the test of time. Panels fit real nice square. Has the proper gold reflective stripes that fade to white. It also has the Indy decals. Excellent trim, glass, jambs, weatherstrips etc. New chrome bumpers, has the exhaust cut outs in back. The Hurst also included the half padded roof, sport mirrors, blacked out grills and taillights. This one has the rare power sunroof. Only 220 made and frankly there were hardly any other muscle cars produced with one back then. Has Super Stock lll wheels painted in Hurst gold, the trim is in very nice shape and they have reproduction Polyglas GT tires.
INTERIOR: Very nice, unabused interior. Has some great features- Am-Fm radio, t Tic Toc Tachometer, sport wheel on a tilt column and of course bucket seats with a center console. It has the legendary Hurst dual gate shifter. The interior lights work, radio plays clear. The instrument area is in excellent shape, no cracks or damage. Excellent dash pad, bezels, knobs and trim. Still has the matching cigarette lighter. Upholstery, carpets, door panels and headliner are all excellent. The plastic seat trim is very nice too.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has the VIN number match 455 engine with the ram air induction system. Features air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Everything looks proper- the components, wiring etc. The fan shroud, rubber flaps on each side and even the plastic clamp on the GM hose is there. Original air induction air cleaner assembly, not reproduction. Has the "chicken wire" on the bottom of the hood.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Super clean, dry trunk compartment. I don't see any signs of rust or patches. Quarter panels appear to be the originals. Nice spatter finish paint. Correct two piece Oldsmobile mat. Super Stock lll wheel for a spare. Has the jack and lug wrench. Bottom of the trunk lid is painted real nice with all the stickers. Weather strip is still soft.
UNDERSIDE: It was restored and detailed underneath. The front end is completely rebuilt. Bottom of the motor is still clean. Starter, shocks, brake and fuel lines still look fresh. Dual exhaust has correct trumpet tips. Has rally suspension which includes sway bars and boxed control arms. Has vin # matched original turbo 400 automatic. Original code SS posi rear. Floors, rockers, frame are solid metal.
I am a strong believer that this is a very significant, investment grade muscle car. Super rare, connected to Hurst Performance, has a great story, great looks, great features. This one is an excellent example. Not a 10 but a really nice car in & out, top to bottom.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
