It is with a heavy heart that I am selling my 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight SceniCoupe. If you're looking for a car with "bling", you've found it. I bought this fifties cruiser back in 2012 and have driven it about 3000 miles. Its a good strong running car. It drives great and the transmission shifts smoothly. I added a Vintage Air under dash Air Conditioner in the summer of 2012. It blows Ice Cold and makes this car a pleasure to drive year round. I don't have the full history on the car, but what I do know is that it has been shown in World of Wheels Shows and that it sold at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale back in 2010 or 2011.
I would say that this car has had a high end cosmetic restoration. The paint was done over ten years ago and is still in excellent condition. It is a stunning powder blue and white two tone. The body panels are straight as an arrow. The chrome is original and has a great shine. It's too nice to re-plate. The stainless is excellent as well. All glass is in great condition. The Kelsey Hayes spoke rims add a nostalgic flare to the car and the exterior is completed with wide whitewall steel belted radials. They still have plenty of tread.
The interior is very good to excellent original. The blue cloth and white leather upholstery is in unbelievably good condition. The upholstery, headliner, door panels, and dash pad are all original and in great shape. There are no tears in the upholstery. The only flaw is that the leather on the front seat is slightly cracked. This can be seen in the photos. I have not replaced the leather panel, because its not bad enough to replace with new material. The carpeting has been replaced with original type carpeting. It also has custom cut carpeted floor mats.
The trunk has been re-upholstered and is in excellent condition. We have enjoyed this very nice trunk when travelling. The engine compartment was restored, and since some time has gone by, it could use some sprucing up for judging. It doesn't bother me and I think it looks fine as is.
One interesting feature that this car has is the speedometer. The background color changes as you accelerate. It works just fine! As with any sixty year old car there are a few "things". Currently, the gas gauge isn't working. I keep track of my mileage and fill up based on mileage. It has an oil leak or two, but nothing that has ever worried me. Also, every now and then, the car has a light puff of smoke out of one of the tail pipes. Again, nothing that I have ever worried about.
I keep the car covered at all times with a custom made California Car Cover.
I'm selling my Ninety-Eight because my collection has grown and I need to thin it out! It's time for someone else to enjoy this great rare Oldsmobile. Since owning my Olds, I have attended many car shows throughout the state and don't hesitate to put it on the interstate. I love showing it, and because it's so unique, it always draws a crowd. It has been a consistent winner at car shows and cruise-ins! We have also used it for several weddings!
I am located in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a good location for shipping as Interstate 10 and Interstate 49 meet here. Please email me with any questions at dlmmds@cox.net or call me at (337) 298-5322.My name is David.
I require a $1000 deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. Balance must be paid by cash or wire transfer within seven days of close of auction.
