GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 196 Oldsmobile Starfire for your consideration. a huge 425ci V8 the Oldsmobile Starfire was rated at a whopping 375 horsepower which is still extremely high even by today's standards. Mated to the motor is a Turbo-Hydra-Matic automatic transmission that easily handles the power and sends it to the rear wheels.
Finished in a beautiful Provincial White exterior over a Red Morroceen vinyl interior, this is a highly optioned Starfire. The exterior paint shows well and the interior is one of the nicest to have come through our doors. Chrome trim pieces accent the red vinyl interior nicely and make for an extremely elegant environment.
For the 1966 year, Oldsmobile decided to remove many of the standard options previously optioned on the Starfire to boost sales of the front-wheel-drive Toronado. This meant that power steering, power brakes, and many other options were removed from the base Starfire. The example offered here has power steering and power brakes making it surprisingly maneuverable despite its large size. Mechanically this Starfire is sound as it runs and idles smoothly.
During the '50s and '60s, America was fascinated with the space race; what things would look like in the future as new technologies, new designs were at a rapid pace. The American automotive manufacturers pick up on this concept and futuristic designs and nameplates began showing up on their cars. Vehicles like the Oldsmobile Starfire were designed and marketed in this theme. They were big, they were beautiful, they drove smooth and they gave the American public a peek towards the future. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
