Car description

Someone forgot to tell this 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that the muscle car era was winding down when it was built, because it has a look and stance of a seriously potent street brawler. Packing a blistering Rocket 350 engine, this awesome Olds looks fast just sitting still and backs it up with legitimate street cred. That lovely shade of gold isn't this car's original color (it's code 65 Flame Orange), but we don't think anyone's... going to complain about the color choice when it looks this good. The 3rd generation Cutty was never about subtlety, and with added 442 features on this one like the white side stripes and tail spoiler, the fastback styling gives this Olds exactly the right look. Bodywork is nicely finished and the car appears to have been completely disassembled for the color change, as there's nary a trace of the original orange paint anywhere. The gently flared rear fenders combine with the sloping rear bodywork to create a unique profile that makes this A-body stand apart from its siblings, and the white pinstripe emphasizes what really are some beautiful curves. The hood grilles look like they should be venting a jet engine, along with mesh grilles and those iconic double headlights in the bezels up front, housing yellow lenses on the outside for a racy look. Correct 442 and H/O (Hurst/Olds) emblems have been fitted all around, just to warn the guys too blind to notice the stance and the wing, and the white vinyl roof adds a touch of sophistication to the tough veneer of this Cutty. Show up in this car, and people are going to notice! Grab your sunglasses and climb into the dazzling white interior, which is all newer from headliner to plush black carpets. Comfy bucket seats flank a factory console adorned with wood trim, and they're wrapped in fresh white vinyl seat covers that have a highly detailed look with their vertical pleats, perfect for the upscale Olds. Three round gauge pods hold two factory stainless-faced instruments along with a third aftermarket tachometer and auxiliary units in the third, all of which are surrounded by a warm wood applique that helps to dress up the interior. And remarkably, everything works, including the Alpine AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo that was fitted into the factory position in the dash. That 4-spoke steering wheel is a factory piece that looks like a racy aftermarket item, and it suits the dual nature of the Cutty perfectly. Under that sloping rear deck, there's a very large trunk with solid floors and quarters, providing further evidence of a lifetime of easy living for this Olds. Under the hood it's quite tidy as well, with power delivered from the original numbers matching Rocket 350 that's definitely no slouch in the performance department. Sure, they changed the way they measured horsepower in '72 to get around those pesky EPA standards, but the performance was the same, and Oldsmobile fans know that the torque output of even the small block V8 is impressive. Gold paint was an Olds trademark for decades, and it proudly advertises with a reproduction 442 decal on a chrome air cleaner lid. The block is fed through a Demon 4-barrel carburetor, and with power steering and brakes and an aluminum radiator keeping the temperature under control, this is an effortless cruiser. Underneath there are no secrets and shows off its factory-coated floors which are solid and damage-free. A reproduction dual exhaust system gives it just the right note, terminating in shiny, wide tips that look like they were borrowed from a later model car. Beautiful white Rally wheels fit the aggressive stance perfectly and wear staggered 225/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear white-letter Cooper Cobra radials for an authentic look. Awesome good looks, a bulletproof powertrain, and enough luxury to make it painless to drive, this '72 Cutty has it all. Call today!
