Car description |
---|
Offered for sale is a stunning all original 1985 Oldsmobile Toronado with under 28,000 miles. This third generation Toronado is as nice as you will find anywhere. The exterior is Cotillion White with a Dark Maple Red cabriolet top. The interior is like new with burgundy leather seats and carpet.
The car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 providing 170 hp through a 4-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. It is extremely well equipped and features power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, tilt steering, twilight sentinel lights, AM/FM/cassette stereo with power antenna, woodgrain throughout the dash, factory wire wheel covers and new radial whitewall tires.
This car scored 994 points out of 1,000 in judging at the 2016 Oldsmobile Club of America National Meet, advancing to "Senior" class standing. Lost points for minor crease in lower door trim and crack in rear bumper filler near license plate (can be seen in photo). The only other known defect is that the heater core has been bypassed due to a leak in the core.
Produced from 1966 to 1992, Toronado was not only the first "personal luxury coupe," but it was also the first successfully produced American front-wheel drive car since the demise of the Cord in 1937. Downsized substantially from the first two generations, the third-generation Toronados (1979-85) are becoming very collectible by collector-car hobbyists who appreciate the appeal of their luxurious design and ride, as well as their affordability.
