Car description |
---|
Factory black car with red leather and gray cloth inserts; red carpet.
Motor turns by hand. The previous owner told me his father replaced the original motor with a 1955 324-cid; I have not verified this. The 1955 motor has 20 more horsepower than the 1954; the family pulled a travel trailer back in the 1960's and thus the car still retains a trailer receiver. It was last on the road in 1971 and was stored in a garage since then.
The transmission is the famous Hydra-Matic.
All glass is intact. The windows are hydraulically operated and are in the "Up" position.
The doors latch like new....effortless movement required; no sag in the hinges; amazing after all of these years.
The body is straight as an arrow down the sides (see photos).
For some reason, the previous owners began to remove some trim, thus they placed the yellow tape over the screw holes. I have since purchased the rechromed hood ornament and the curved stainless that sits on top of the trunk; also the hood jet plane and front turn lamp bezels. I have the taillamp assemblies and NOS headlight bezels, too. They will be sold with the car.
I also have thousands of dollars more in NOS and used pieces that can be purchased separately.
The "Oldsmobile" hood letters are missing as are the trunk scripts that read "Oldsmobile" and Ninety Eight."
Interior: The interior is complete and intact, however, it will need to be restored. The padded dash is dry rotted and needs replaced. The headliner is in place, but fragile. All chrome ribs are there and in nice shape.
The trunk is in nice shape and the rain gutters are solid, as is the spare tire well (some light rust, but not through).
The worst rust is pictured and is located ahead of the driver's rear quarter, in the rocker.
The bumpers will need rechromed.
Please ask any questions and I will be glad to get you answers for you. The car is in dry storage.
Sold as-is. No warranty. This is an inoperable vehicle that needs mechanical and electrical work to be road-worthy.
Buyer is responsible for arranging delivery.
