BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This is a cool piece of American car culture and history.
In the mid 70s with the gas crunch in full effect, the big
3 where still trying to keep the Muscle car era alive and
sell cars. This yr Cutlass 442 was sorta a last hurrah for the
70s to keep the name going. Its not fast but its rust free !
Still has a 4v V8, in dash gauges, floor shifter with console.
GMs well known to most, swivel bucket seats and a white
interior that you just dont see on cars anymore. Parked for
a couple of yrs because the older lady who owned it passed
away. She bought the car here in Tucson with only 22k miles
on it. Its been in Az and Ca and shows no signs of rot.
Signs of dry brittle plastic and hard vinyl...yes. Starts all the
time with the key and the motor sounds good. I have it running
off a container of gas thru the stock mechanical fuel pump at
the moment because not sure whats in the original tank yet.
After driving it around the block a few times, not sure if the brakes
are holding it back and grabbing, or if its down on power. Doesnt
seem to have the throttle response it should. No smoke or weird
noises, just not as powerful as you would expect when you stomp
on it. Timing chain was done about 30k miles ago. But it could be
a carb issue ? Backing up for some reason is worse, which is why
I think maybe the ebrake is a little stuck ? Going to jack up all four
corners tomorrow (in the 113 degree heat) and see if any of the
wheels are not free wheeling as they should be. PS and PDB work
fine.
This car starts, runs and drives great. Most everything does work
still on the car, Headlights/radio/ and more are currently
working fine. A/C blower works, but its not cold.
DONT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FUNDS IN HAND
BUILD ANYWAY YOU WANT, NO HARM NO FOUL !
Excellent Investment / Clean Clear Arizona Title
IF you bid, also please email us thru ebay to let us know
you are bidding on the car, if you dont we may cancel
your bid ! LOW FAIR RESERVE !!!
DRIVETRAIN: factory 260 4v, some of the last of the
factory V8 cars for a while.. Motor runs well, trans shifts
smooth and works great. Pop thehood and its very original
and unmolested. NO PERFORMANCE MODS !!!! Almost a time
capsule. Dont want to oversell it, but the car speaks for itself.
Sometimes the car acts like there is a dead battery. Ive traced
it down to the + battery cable I think is a little loose at the
starter. I wiggled it and it starts fine. Does it every once in a
while. If I can address it before it sells I will.
INTERIOR: take a look at the pics, the interior showing alot
of heat damage and wear. Still beats a rust bucket. Windshield
is cracked. (If you win and want it fixed before it ships, lmk and
I get a pretty good deal on new ones installed) Winner would still
pay for it but at our cost. Tilt, gauges, floor auto shifter still
makes for a fun car to drive. Cracks in the dash of course, all the
windows roll up and down okay. Doors dont sag. White interior
is such a great 70s color. Its going to need interior work of course.
EXTERIOR:the body very straight for its age, but this is a 90%
rust FREE survivor. Original sheetmetal the best I can tell from
1976, I believe the paint is also still all original. In areas the
paint is getting thin, but show some signs of small nicks and
dings along the doors some. Lots of what I call factory orange
peel too. Chrome on the bumpers are nice.
Rust or rot I should say is pretty much non existent on the body.
Much nicer by comparison to most cars this old living on the
Eastcoast. Look underneath and no signs of rot. Some
surface rust, thats about it. The last owner had it since 1978
and the family told me the Mom who owned it had the top part
of the car repainted (due to the Az sun) but the sides and lower
stripes are still from 1976 !. She drove it and loved it. Kinda
weird she never had the windows tinted !
SUSPENSION:the suspension looks normal from what I can see
Just your basic set up,No wacky mods and surface rust at
best. Makes coming apart a breeze. Glides down the road like
a 70s luxury car was built to. Factory rally wheels where replaced
with the current 15" dish mags many yrs ago. Tires are pretty old
and dry. For its size, car handles pretty well. Factory sway bars
are a nice touch.
Check out ALL the pics below ----->
it may take a full minute for them all to load ifyou have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more infoAFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.
Probably The BEST represented Cutlass's on Ebay
Shows you all the good as well as any bad.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars.
People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale
and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats
paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks.
Having as much as the original steel on a non restored car these
speaks volumes. Survivors are getting harder to find !
Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.
People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are
fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.
Email us with ANY questions before you bid please
Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. We show you as
much feasibly possible via pics.
Dont let auctions withlittle to no pics try to fool you.
If they cant take the time to take pics of areas under the car

until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars
with great pics to help making your decision easier.

UPDATE 7-27-18
turns out its the 350 4v V8 motor according to the vinAlso, yes the top of the car was repainted back in the 80s
the hood, roof and trunk areas. thus removing the 442decal on the trunk. The sides of the car to the best of my
knowledge are still the original stripes and paint.
