1961 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible Barn Find
Up for bid is a 1961 Oldsmobile StarFire convertible. This car was just pulled out of a local barn where it has been sitting since 1979. This is a one owner car with 113,000 miles.
This car came equipped with the Oldsmobile rocket 394 cu. inch V8 engine that produced 330 hp. It also came equipped with a hydra Matic three speed transmission. It also has a center console with a tachometer and a floor shifter and leather bucket seats. The base price of this car 1961 was $4647 which was the most expensive Oldsmobile produced that year. Based on the research I could find, they made 1500 convertible’s in 1961.
I have taken pictures that will show everything on the car that needs to be fixed. Prior to the car being parked in 1979, somebody decided to go into the trunk and make two holes below where the convertible top sits in the trunk. From what I can tell, the body mounts were no good and someone tried to do a backyard mechanic type fix on it to attach the body to the frame. The frame of this car is good. I would say that this car needs a full restoration. The good news is that everything is here and overall the car appears to be pretty solid. The car is not running, but the motor does turn over and is not seized. All the tires hold air and the car rolls freely.
As you can see in the pictures, I also have the original owners manual, the protecto-plate, the operation and care manual for the convertible top and another pamphlet that is called “concerning your new Oldsmobile”.
The title is still in the original owners name and it is clear.
The car is located in Hamburg Pennsylvania off of the Shartlesville exit.
All shipping costs and shipping arrangements must be taken care of by the buyer. The car will not leave the premises until all funds have cleared. Car to be paid for via wire transfer or cash in person. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of auction and final payment within seven days. If you have zero feedback, please contact me prior to bidding on this car. This car is being sold as is and there are no warranties or guarantees on this vehicle.
