eBay template 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado Engine 425 V8 Transmission Type 3 Speed Automatic Primary Color Green Interior Color Black Mileage 65637 Type of Vehicle Title C141118A Beautiful Low Mileage. Rust Free 1967 Toronado - True "Art on Wheels"! Just in from a long-time Tennessee car collector is this stunning example of America's first production front wheel drive grand touring machine. the Toronado. Selected as the Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1966. the Toronado was designed by David North and named after the horse belonging to famous Mexican crime fighter Zorro. Dramatic styling cues such as the wide horizontal grill and vacuum retractable headlights were borrowed from the futuristic front drive Cord 810/812 of the 1930s. Marketed as a personal luxury car. the Toronado is powered by a 425 c. i. Olds Super Rocket V8 that develops 385hp and 475 lb-ft of torque with a 10. 5:1 compression ratio. The heart of this historic front-drive machine is a compact "unitized power package". or UPP. It includes a modified counter-clockwise rotation. three speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. and a differential/axle assembly that fits in the space where there was normally just an engine. Back in the day. this combination would yield a zero-to-60 time of 8. 2 seconds. topping out at 132 m. p. h. Not bad for a 4. 96 pound executive hot rod!Totally rust free. this beautiful example shows just 65. 37 original miles and is one of 20. 20 Deluxe Toronados built in 1967. Although most of its originality has been preserved. this Toronado has been meticulously cared for and has been the beneficiary of cosmetic restoration where needed. Recently treated to a high-quality professional refinish in its original color of Aspen Green Metallic. this Toronado is in show condition! These historical works of art are becoming difficult to find in any condition. However. finding a first generation Toronado that is still road worthy. with working hideaway headlights. vacuum release truck latch. cold air conditioning. clock. tilt-tele steering wheel and power windows. is a rare event. In fact. the previous owner took it on an 1100 mile vacation with no problems noted. and has used it in several parades with no issues. When was the last time you saw on of these cruising down the freeway? This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of American automotive design history.
