Offered for sale is this 1942 Oldsmobile B44 Series 66 Sedan.
American made automobiles from model year 1942 are very, very rare as this was the shortest year of production in Detroit history. This was the last year of production before automobile manufacturing in the USA was stopped due to World War II. This body style was one year only and is a very rare car.
I bought this car spring of 2017 from a collector in Massachusetts who was downsizing his collection. He had bought the car in 1996 and had kept it in a climate controlled garage since.
This is a flathead six with AUTOMATIC transmission. Automatic is another very rare feature for 1942 as only a handful of manufacturers used Automatic this early. Many companies did not offer automatic as an option until the 1950's.
Overall the car is in very good condition. It is not a perfect show car but it is a very clean, solid, driver.
It was repainted the original color black in 1998. The paint shows very well. The chrome is in very good condition with only minor pitting on the door handles. Theinterior is original and in great condition except for a smallrip on the top of the front bench seat and some wear on the driver's side front door panel. The original headliner is perfect.
The body is completely solid. All of the body panels arestraight with excellent fit. There are no signs of any accidents or rust repair. It has all of the original floorpans which are solid with no patch panels.
This is a very, very, solidoriginal car.
When I bought itthe car had not been driven in a few years. I changed the oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and bled the brakes. The car runs and drives excellent. I have put approximately 250 miles on it this summer driving it to local car shows and I have not had one problem with it.
The only negatives to speak of are the radio is missing and the passenger side rear door glass is cracked. I have the new glass for it and it comeswith the sale.
The odometer reads 38,806 but I do not know what the true mileage is.

** This car isbeing sold as is with no warranties. It is 75 years old and this description is my personal opinion. I highly encourage inspecting the car in person of via a qualified third party prior to bidding. All sales are final. Payment must be madewithin three business days via wire transfer, no exceptions.
