Car description |
---|
All original 1961 oldsmobile 2 door hardtop in project condition. Same roof line as a 1961 impala Bubbletop. Dry western car, Was brought from the Arizona/Idaho area so it doesn't have all the typical northeast rust and rot. Appears to have mostly original paint but can't say for sure. Car is still the factory color so it could be original paint. Has power steering and manual brakes. Appears to have a solid frame but have not crawled too far under it.
Floor pans don't appear to have any rot as seen in the photos. Very rare and will save a lot of time not replacing floor sheet metal. Has a few small rust holes in the quarter sheet metal but nothing major. All 4 roof posts are solid which is rare for these cars. Worst part rust wise is the trunk lid which is completely rotted at the lip, but a solid original replacement trunk lid is included. Has a dent on the drivers side front fender as seen in the photos. Passenger side lower quarter has some rust at the bottom and will need repair, but not bad. Interior is all original and is falling apart. Seat covers are the original vinyl and have cracked apart. Door cards are shot but present. Fronts have been removed.Last on the road in the early 1970s according to the Madison county Idaho license plates that are still attached. Windshield is cracked but a 61 impala is a direct replacement due to the same roof line so it is available. All other glass appears to be good.
Engine does turn over and did fire on carb cleaner a few months ago but did not have time to get it to stay running. Has what appears to be the original 394 cubic inch engine and automatic transmission. Has been off the road for a long time and will need the usual to get going again like brake system overhaul, fuel system flush and rebuild, tune up etc. Brake pedal currently goes to the floor with no pressure. Will probably need an exhaust system as well. It does not currently run and no it cannot be driven. Will need to be trailered. Comes with a new old stock sorted fuel pump that I am told was rebuilt with newer components to be resistant to modern fuel (purchased by the previous owner so I can't say for sure), and a brand new water pump since I believe the bearings went in the original.
Clean title in hand ready to transfer to the new owner, and comes with an original shop manual and several dealer brochures.
Would have liked to have gotten this car back on the road but it doesn't look like I'm going to get to it any time soon, so I would like for it to get the attention it deserves
