This car has a story. I found it 3 yrs ago. The original owner, "Otto" used it as his daily driver and in his retirement, he was going to restore it. He accumulated most of the parts, including disc conversion, new Engine (don't know why he had a Pontiac Engine for it, but he did), 3 speed turbo 400, had the bumpers re-chromed and he died before completing his project. Fast forward 20 yrs and his Grand Daughter realizes she's never going to finish Ottos project and she agrees to sell the car to me. Car was stored in San Diego, inland, where the air is dry and cool, perfect place to store a car as you can see from the photos. I needed to finish Ottos project and over a couple years, my son (who's a professional mechanic) and I put Otto (that's the cars name now) back together. It's been a great hobby but my son needs an SUV for his family so Otto has to go to a new home.
I've left the exterior original because, well because it looks cool and it allows a buyer to see it's an original car. Leave it like it is, paint it, it's up to you but the proof of this awesome wagons originality can be see through the lovely patina.
This car is Mechanically restored from Gas Tank to Radiator. The ONLY mechanical items not replaced because they were good was the Alternator and PowerSteering Box. Besides that, everything was either renewed, replaced or rebuilt including all wheel bearings and soft suspension parts. What I'd love about this car is I were keeping it, is it's now a reliable driver and the simple fun stuff is what's ahead. I'd replace the door seals and window felts to tighten up the interior. I put a new Retro-Auto-Sound radio and if you want to throw and amp, sub and more speakers in, you'd have a great sound system but I've laid the ground work including two new auxiliary fuse blocks to new modern stuff doesn't tax the original electrical system. For modern safety, rear seat belts installed.
Although the idea is to sell this, we will trade for a 2010 or newer Ford Expedition.
