We purchased this 55 in 2009 from an older gentleman in a small town for something to take out on the weekends. After we purchased it we drove it to Kansas City (approx. 230 miles) and it rode so nice that we kicked back, turned on the ol’ tube radio and unbelievably an old 50’s song was playing. Unfortunately during the trip the speedometer stopped working… we were not aware of a periodic scheduled maintenance which requires the speedometer to be oil. There is a hole in the tail pipe and I do have a new tail pipe for it. I just have not had time to have it put on.

We were told by the owner that the vehicle is all original and it requires leaded fuel due to the original engines values that requires lead in the fuel for lubrication. Leaded fuel is no longer available… however you can purchase lead that can be added to the fuel (unleaded fuel) from an auto parts store.

An appraisal was done in 2009 by Classic Auto Appraisals and it was deemed all original.

It’s been garaged since we purchased it and it was garaged by the previous owner. The fuel gauge doesn’t work and I haven’t looked into it to see why. It does have some rust and I tried to get pictures of some of the rust… I can provide more photos if needed and I will answer your questions the best that I can.

This ol’ 55 is certainly a conversation piece when we take it out.
