THIS IS MY 84 DELTA 88 THAT WE BOUGHT IN 1985. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE THEN AND HAVE DOCUMENTS TO SHOW THAT. IT HAS 52,000 ORIGINAL MILES. IT WAS BOUGHT IN 85 AND IN 88 WE BOUGHT AN 87 GMC JIMMY. SO THIS CAR SAT IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHILE THE JIMMY WAS USED. I HAD A COMPANY TRUCK AND VERY SELDOM USED THE OLDSMOBILE. HAVING NO GARAGE AT OUR FIRST HOME, THIS CAR SAT IN THE SUN AND WEATHER FOR YEARS. IT TOOK ITS TOLL ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR. THE INTERIOR IS IN NICE CONDITION SHOWING SOME AGE BUT NOT WORN OUT. IN 93 THE CAR WAS MOVED INTO OUR SHOP/ WAREHOUSE AND SAT FOR ANOTHER NUMBER OF YEARS. JUST THIS LAST DECEMBER THE BUILDING WAS SOLD AND I TOOK HER HOME AGAIN. I DECIDED TO REPAIR AND UPGRADE THE CAR AND USE IT OCCASIONALLY. I I DIDN'T HAVE THE HEART TO JUNK HER, SO I HAD A LONG LIST OF MECHANICAL WORK DONE TO HER.
SO TO START, SHE HAS NO BODY ROT. NO FLOOR PAN ROT OR RUST. SHE HAS NO TRUNK ROT AND NO CHASSIS ROT. LIFT THE PAD IN THE TRUNK AND IT LOOKS NEW UNDER IT. SHE DOES HAVE SURFACE ISSUES AND NEEDS REPAIR PREP AND PAINT. SHE HAS THE RALLY WHEELS WITH THE LARGE BEAUTY RIMS AND HAS THE LARGE 1 & 1/2 INCH WHITEWALLS. IT WILL NEED TIRES. NOW I NEED THE ROOM AND I'VE DECIDED TO LET HER GO. IT HAS HAD ALL NEW ROTORS, CALIPERS, BRAKE DRUMS, SHOES,PADS AND BRAKE HOSES INSTALLED. A NEW MASTER CYLINDER WAS ALSO INSTALLED AS WELL AS FRESH BRAKE FLUID. THE BRAKES OPERATE LIKE IT WAS NEW. SHE HAD 4 NEW SHOCKS ADDED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SERVICED AND HAD A NEW FILTER, FLUID AND A NEW REAR TAIL SHAFT SEAL INSTALLED. THERE IS A NEW RADIATOR AND NEW WATER PUMP INSTALLED. ALL FOUR BELTS AND ALL HOSES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW. VALVE COVER GASKETS WERE REPLACED. ENGINE WAS TUNED WITH ALL NEW TUNE UP PARTS, PLUGS AND WIRES. THE POWER WINDOWS WORK. THE HEATER WORKS. THE RADIO SOMETIMES WORKS. THERE IS SOMETHING LOOSE AND IT GOES ON AND OFF AT WILL. ALL THE SPEAKERS ARE PERFECT AND A NEW STEREO IS THE BEST THING TO DO ANYWAY. THE AC IS NOT WORKING. WE BELIEVE IT IS A SIMPLE ELECTRICAL REPAIR AND MIGHT BE DONE SOON ANYWAY. IT OPERATED FINE BEFORE AND SHOULD AGAIN. THIS IS A RELIABLE CAR AND WAS ALWAYS GOOD TO US. SHE IS STILL RUNNING AND DRIVING. THIS COULD BE A ECONOMICAL RIDE AS ITS AGE WILL SAVE ON PROPERTY TAXES. I HAVE ANTIQUE AUTO INSURANCE THROUGH HAGERTY AND IT IS RIDICULOUS HOW CHEAP IT IS. THERE IS NO MECHANICAL WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. IT'S ALL COSMETIC NOW. IF YOUR CAPABLE, THIS COULD BE A SHARP LOOKING RIDE AGAIN. MAYBE LOWER IT JUST A BIT AND DO SOME SLIGHT CUSTOMIZING?
