MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this stunning factory correct restored 1950 Oldsmobile Futuramic 98 Deluxe Club Sedan. Theses Futuramic Oldsmobiles brought a new set of standards of performance, pleasure and driving ease to the American car market in the early 1950's. This Oldsmobile 90 Club Sedan comes with some great history such as the original purchase order on May 1st, 1950 that had a trade in of a 1947 Frazer for the Oldsmobile with a total cost of $2,793.00 which included undercoating. The Oldsmobile then resided in Milwaukee Wisconsin until May 2nd, 1979 with a odometer reading of 58,512 when Mr. Badger of Indianapolis Indiana purchased the Oldsmobile and owned and took great care for the Oldsmobile for another 3 decades. Mr. Badger was a very well know collector and restorer of Oldsmobiles in the Indianapolis area and we heard some fantastic stories about him from some the old timers in the area when we picked up the car! This Club Sedan really speaks for itself for explaining the Oldsmobile knowledge of Mr. Badger who was also know for finding the infamous 15 mile 1928 Ford Model A which the full story is included in the photos below.
Down to the last detail this Deluxe 98 has many genuine and correct Deluxe equipment and optional accessories such as the rear seat armrest, rear ashtrays, simulated rubber carpet, DeLuxe six tube variable tone control radio, Deluxe electric clock, outside and adjustable rear view mirrors, Guide traffic light viewer, Guide auxiliary front light, windshield washers, exhaust deflector, chrome ventshades, Deluxe steering wheel and horn button, fender skirts, special door trim and stainless steel wheel trim rings. This Oldsmobile is a fantastic piece of living automotive history!
Finished in it's correct shade of Serge Blue metallic (code 15), this sedan shows extremely well. The front chrome bumper with bumperettes and Guide driving lamps fit is tight and finish is exquisite. The rear chrome bumper with bumperettes mirrors the condition of the front .The front grill is in very good condition. All the impossible to find trim pieces are present and have a great finish. The headlights including bezels and taillights including aluminum trim are in very condition.
Inside, this Oldsmobile features it's correct for 1950 striped Grey broadcloth (code 1) front and rear bench seats and the looks excellent. The matching grey door panels, carpet and two-tone dashboard are a continuation of the striking interior of this 98 and look fantastic. The grey headliner completes rest of the interior and is in very good condition. The weather-stripping is in very good condition, no signs of damage. All the gauges have the correct appearance and function as originally designed and the dash is in great condition.
This restored Oldsmobile comes equipped with its correct high compression Rocket 304 cid V8 cylinder engine fed by a 2 barrel carburetor. Power is transferred to the wheels by a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Driver assist features include 4 wheel drum brakes. The 15-inch original Crest Blue painted steel wheels and beauty rings with Oldsmobile full hub caps are surrounded with wide whitewall tires and exterior matching rear fender skirts.
This is a outstanding correct example that was owned and restored by a devoted Oldsmobile collector and deserves to placed in one the top Oldsmobile collections in the world.
