1968 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe. ALL NUMBERS MATCHING!
I have owned this 442 since 1986. This car is equipped from the factory with power seat, remote mirror, Rallye stripe, am-fm stereo, sport wheel,TickTock Tach, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning and vinyl roof. It was repainted the factory original color Willow Gold in 1988. The body and frame are in really nice condition with no rust. Chrome bumpers have been replated. New vinyl top at time of paint. Car always stored inside. Newer 2.5 inch exhaust with balance tube and stock trumpet outlets.
It is in excellent condition and has a rebuilt numbers matching THM-400 automatic with a performance valve body and shift kit. Also has a rebuilt numbers matching 400 cu in engine (engine machine work by S&K Speed Shop of L.I.N.Y.) to stock specs. Car currently has 4:30 ratio rear with posi and 31 spline axles. (have original 3:25 rear complete also) This car has been fully sorted out and runs great. Car currently has 7inch wide Olds steel wheels with new G series rubber. Gas shocks at all four corners.
The Olds engines of this period were built to be super reliable using high nickel content engine blocks and pistons and rings were select fit to maximize performance. The 400 cubic inch engine in this Olds is the original standard bore engine.
Car has also seen some quarter mile dragstrip duty as it has been run in pure stock class producing mid fourteen second times. Car could be in the high thirteens with a competition torque convertor and headers. ( Best E.T. for a stock 442 tested in 1968 by Car Life Magazine was 15.1 sec, in a quarter mile)
This is a well sorted out muscle car and is ready to drive on the street and have fun with.
Have build sheet, window sticker and all receipts for this iconic Olds. This car comes with many additional period correct performance parts and spares and would make a great addition to a collection or first time collector car purchase.
This item is listed for sale in other venues and the seller reserves the right to sell prior to auction completion.
