Up for sale we have a 1970 Oldsmobile 442. This Olds was bought new in Marietta GA and we were told it was a two-owner car. It has had a full frame on restoration with over $50K spent on it, and offers the Numbers Matching Drivetrain. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Olds, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the 442. The body has all the factory sheet metal as far as we can tell and its rock solid with great fit. When you look down the sides it's straight as an arrow. It features the W30 Hood and Wing along with the sport mirrors. Everything is covered in the Matador Red that's accented by the White Stripes which is the factory color scheme. The paint has been buffed and polished to a mirror finish with all the jams and under the trunk looking better than when new. Inside the trunk you'll see the factory style splatter paint and mat. When the resto was done, the bumpers were either replaced or rechromed and it has the factory bumper guards. All the weather stripping was replaced along with all the seals around the glass. To finish off the look it's sitting on the 15" Rally 2's with a set of BFGoodrich Tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of the '70. On the inside it has the original interior down to the carpet and floor mats. This is a bucket seats and console car with the his and her shifter. The seat covers, door panels, and headliner are done in the Ivory and are in excellent condition for their age. This 442 has the Tilt Column with the factory sport wheel. Looking at the dash it's in great condition and has the gauge pack with everything working from the speedometer to the tick tock tach. Also, it retains the factory AM FM radio that works along with the under dash 8 track that also works.
Finally, we will look at the driveline of the Oldsmobile. When you open the hood it's sure to take you back with everything appearing correct down to the stock breather and valve covers. The power comes from the Numbers Matching 455 Block that's mated to the 400 Turbo Trans and the Posi Grip Rear end with a 3.23 gear. The sound comes from the stock manifolds and the duals. This '70 comes with Power Steering and Power Brakes with disc on the front. Also, you can't forget this is factory A/C car that works. When you look under this 442 you will love what you see with the floors being rock solid and never being under coated or painted. They have been cleaned along with the frame when the car was restored. Also, the fuel tank and lines were replaced.
