This one is number 217 on the Hurst/Olds registry. The odometer shows 86. 26 believe to be actual. Here is a brief history of the 1969 Hurst/Olds: The 1969 H/O was a follow-on to the relatively sedate looking '68. The '69 was painted Cameo White with Firefrost Gold striping. wild looking mailbox hood scoops. and a rear deck spoiler that nicely rounded out the back. The '69 H/O was a combination of luxury options in addition to a brute force performance package. Commonly known as the "Rich Man's Hot Rod" the H/O had it all. Distinctive looks and an awesome powerplants that held its own on the street and strip. The list of options on these cars is quite extensive. starting with air conditioning and special dual racing mirrors that were imported from England. The transmissions were given special attention with a mild stall converter included. To compliment the "OH" Turbo 400 was a Hurst Dual/Gate Shifter that had the mild mannered street side and the other side for serious race shifting. The W-46 option included W-30 heads that helped make a stump pulling 500 lbs of torque and the camshaft was just right to keep those front disc brakes with enough vacuum to stop the 3700 lb beast after a run down the 1/4 mile. The hood scoops are a functional ram air system that helps feed fresh cool air into the 455 cubic inch powerplant. The spoiler was designed after a Cessna airplane parked at the Lansing Airport. It actually provides 15 lbs of downforce at 60 mph and 64 lbs at 120 mph. The wheels were SS-IIs with the chrome "built-in" the wheel (no trim ring) and were H/O only items. The 1969 Hurst/Olds started it's life as an ordinary 442 implanted with a 455 and all the extras were added. What a package Dr. Oldsmobile and Hurst put together!MANUFACTURERS SUGGESTED LIST PRICE FOR HURST/OLDS MODIFICATIONS The components of the Hurst/Olds as modified by Hurst Performance Research Inc. are:-- Engine fresh air package-- Twin-inlet hood scoop for fresh air induction-- Dual outside racing mirrors-- Rear deck air spoiler-- Hand applied black pin striping-- Special "Hurst Gold" and Cameo White paint-- Flat Black painted grill-- Distinctive die cast Hurst/Olds emblems-- Interior Hurst/Olds emblems-- Hurst Dual/Gate shifter-- Special gold-trimmed head restraints Suggested List Price: $683. 94 The 4-4-2 itself was back with few changes for '69. Its 400-cid V-8 had 350 bhp with manual transmission and 325 with automatic. The blueprinted W-30 version returned. while the new W-32 package combined the 350-bhp variant with automatic transmission. The Force-Air option again earned a 360-bhp rating with the four-speed. Also returning for 1969 was the Hurst/Olds. but no longer was it remotely low-key in silver and black. Bold "Firefrost Gold" striping now accented its white paint. On the hood was a flamboyant dual-snout scoop more efficient at feeding the engine than the under-bumper Force-Air inlets on other 4-4-2s. And the deck lid held an enormous air foil that furnished 15 pounds of down force at 60 mph. 64 pounds at 120 mph. The Hurst/Olds again used the 455-cid V-8 with W-30 heads. cam. distributor. and Force-Air induction. This engine. called the W-46. was slightly detuned from '68. losing 10 bhp. A performance-modified Turbo Hydra-matic with console-shifted Hurst Dual-Gate was mandatory. Just 914 of these 4-4-2-based Hurst/Olds models were built for 1969. Heavy-duty suspension. power front discs. and Polyglas F60xl5s on special seven-inch wheels were standard. Hurst badging and imported English racing mirrors touched up the exterior. custom headrests dressed up the cabin. and air conditioning was optional. Hurst built a couple of '69 H/O convertibles to go with the hardtops. but total production was under 1. 00. The Hurst/Olds would next appear as a luxury-oriented '72 Cutlass. so the fast and flashy '69s closed out its pure-muscle period on a high note. just as Dr. Oldsmobile and Watson would have prescribed. *DO NOT BID ON THIS VEHICLE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON PURCHASING IT.
