Car description

For those of you thinking that Oldsmobile didn't build performance, et this 1984 Hurst Olds serve as a reminder. Only 3500 were built in 1984, nd the cool silver over black paint job was essentially a reversal of the previous year's anniversary model. This one comes loaded with options, nd, f course, hat famous Hurst shifter.Having the same owner since 1988, t has always been treated as something of value and never used as a daily driver, fact reflected by the condition of the paint and trim for being its age. The Hurst package was a stunning two-tone silver over black job with red stripes, hood scoop and deck lid spoiler, o the thing practically screams "high performance." Park it next to, ay, Buick Grand National and watch where the crowds form. Paint and bodywork are still quite good, ith factory levels of fit and finish throughout, ecause everything is completely untouched save for a monthly wash and wax to keep it in top condition. It's got a few signs of age and a scratch on the driver's side, ut there's no denying that this was the best-looking thing rolling out of GM plants in the mid-80s. Even the decals remain bright and firmly adhered to the crisply formed Cutlass sheetmetal, hich is no small feat even for the best-preserved cars. Things like the rubber bumper fillers, indow surrounds, nd taillight lenses are all in great shape, urther indication of careful preservation. The Hurst/Olds got every option GM could throw at the G-body, nd Hurst didn't do much to change the already excellent setup. There are cloth bucket seats, n unusual sight in an Oldsmobile, ut mandatory on the Hurst cars because of the center console and trick "Lightning Rod" shifter setup. A full array of gauges, ncluding a tachometer (in an Oldsmobile!) were crammed into the factory instrument panel that usually just held dials for speed and fuel level. Other options include power windows and locks, ear defroster, /C, nd an AM/FM/cassette stereo system that actually sounds pretty good given the era. Most of these came with T-tops, ut this is one of only 24 built with a factory moon roof, aking it a special car in a group of already special cars. The trunk is also nicely preserved with original mats and a proper spare tire.An Oldsmobile-built 307 cubic inch V8 delivers the power, nd it was specially tuned for use in this car. With a cool rumble from the exhaust and seemingly bottomless reserves of torque, t's the ideal powerplant. A 4-barrel Rochester was still the carburetor of choice and lives under an air cleaner that inhales fresh, ool air from the front of the engine bay. It is extremely well preserved under the hood, ith signs of proper maintenance and careful preservation of factory features, arkings, nd decals, o you know it's been owned by a hobbyist who understands why these cars are special. A 200R4 4-speed automatic is the gearbox under the cool Hurst shifter setup, nd spins a set of responsive 3.73 gears out back, o it feels plenty punchy around town. The exhaust system is stock, ith a 2-into-1-into-2 setup that retains a catalytic converter. And in true Hurst fashion, t sports chrome Oldsmobile Rally wheels with red accents and a set of 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. If you lived through the '80s, ou probably remember when these were the hottest cars on the street. If there's a future collectable from that period, he Hurst/Olds is it. Call today!
