Car description |
---|
This will make an excellent 4X4 and daily driver for a mechanic that can change or rebuild the engine or someone that wants to spend the money to fix this rare 80’s SUV and end up with a killer, retro 4x4. Please read entire description. This car needs an engine rebuild. This is a rare, vintage, 2-door 4WD Pathfinder, my daughter’s pride and joy during high school. She loved the funky paint and tough look. I systematically repaired or replaced everything that was not working, both inside and out and got the car in really great shape, and then the timing belt broke recently during a road trip, due to an incorrect installation by a shop that the previous owner took it to. My mechanic says that this type of engine usually bends some of the valves when that happens, so the heads will need to be rebuilt and the top of the pistons inspected.
The interior of this car is in really great shape, except for cracks in the dash. No rips in any of the seats, door panels or carpets. The A/C and heater work perfectly. The 4wd and transmission work great, and the vehicle can take on some serious off-roading with ease. The steering is a little bit loose, but the Pathfinder handles very well for a 30+-year-old car. Smooth driving at 90mph and corners well. Brakes are perfect. All other electronics, lights, wipers, rear window defroster, cruise control work great. Stereo/CD with AUX input works great. Speedometer sticks (cable works, but needle gets stuck) so I added a digital GPS speedometer in place of original one - works perfectly.
Here is a list of things that I have done to the car in the last two years:
The car will need to be towed away or put on a flatbed when picked up. Please feel free to message me, if you have any questions about this Pathfinder.

- New O2 and TPS sensors
- new fuel injectors
- replaced worn vacuum lines
- new starter

- washed covers on seats and rebuilt foam
- new sway bar bushings
- new front wheel bearings and back brakes
- flushed and changed all fluids: transmission, power steering pump, cooling system
- new radiator and replaced worn hoses
- new belts
- A/C has been converted to the modern refrigerant with all new O-rings and condenser
- new driver’s visor (old one wasn’t staying up)
- new rubber window channels on both doors to make the car quiet on the highway
- new front speakers
- new hydraulic lifts on tailgate and rear window
