Car description

What is a Pajero? Well it's another name for the Pampas Cat, a breed of wildcat native to the Patagonia region of Argentina.
When it comes to Mitsubishi, It's also called a Canyonero, a Montero a Shogun and a Raider each name was for a different market.
First generation Pajeros were sold in the US in the mid/late 80's as a Dodge Raider in Gasoline only.
This is a Second Generation Pajero in the desirable Intercooled, Turbo Diesel.
They're essentially a short wheelbase, 2 door Montero.
They were called "The Hero of the Desert" for their outstanding performance in the Paris Dakar rallies in the early 90's taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in nearly every race.
What makes them special?
First of all, it's the transmission / 4x4 System. The Super Select 4WD system (also called ActivTrak in the US) it was groundbreaking becase it combined part-time and full-time with 4 available options 2H (rwd) 4H (full time 4wd) 4HLC (High range with locked center differential) and 4LLC (Low Range with locked Center differential). With this system the hubs were auto locking (you didn't have to get out to lock them) and you could go between 2H and 4H at any speed up to 62 mph! The transmission is a 4 speed with electronic O/D which is switchable. It shifts perfectly and the fluid is clean and smells great.
On top of that trick transfer case, it has electronically controlled suspension giving the driver the ability to change between Soft (Off Road) Medium (Rough Road) and Hard (Freeway) at the touch of a button.
What makes this one special?
It's fantastically clean, damage free, corrosion free, and it looks awesome. It sits on Deerfield up-sized 16" alloy wheels and it's a dead-ringer for the Tamiya Metaltop Wide R/C car...Perfectly, right down to the Factory OEM bull-bar and factory Pajero Fog lamps put a www. in front of ultimatetamiya.com/trucks/cc-01/pajero-metaltop/ and you can have a remote control version of this actual 4x4.
The suspension is tight and it doesn't creak, groan or wander around. The Electronic suspension control works great, put in in Soft and you can crawl around while maintaining your dignity, it also has a Air ride / Suspended driver's seat to keep you from bouncing around in your chair.
This car has been perfectly maintained. The timing belt and water pump were changed at 65,000 miles and the Km's on the Odometer translate to 76,200 miles right now. So you're good to go for a LONG while. There are oil and coolant service tickets and stickers all over the engine bay.
Look at the photos of the underside. It's gorgeous. I've had it up on my lift and went over it from front to back, there's no rust at all, we went ahead and Fluid Film'd it anyway as we do with all our vehicles. If you've never used Fluid Film before, you should check it out. It's Lanolin based and gets into all the nooks and crannies and it simply will not let rust form. It also conditions all the rubber bits and we do inside the body panels which makes the power windows and locks work like a dream. The rear windows have been professionally tinted to around 50% and really make it look cool.
If you have any questions about this Pajero at all contact me at ClevelandMoto - I've got as many pictures as you'd need, and I'm happy to shoot a video of it running down the road at 80 mph if that's what it takes.
This is a Japanese Domestic Market, Right Hand Drive Car. It is fully titled in Ohio and road-legal in all 50 states. It qualifies for Historical registration which is what I use because 1 set of plates is good for 50 years and there's no E-Check, inspection etc.
