1959 MGA Red Excellent Condition

This is a 1959 MGA in excellent condition. New fabric top matched to the interior, new interior upholstery and carpet including the trunk, ewtonneau cover.Car was restored in 2009 by British Steel Company in Fresno California. The engine was not overhauled but was dismantled down to a short block and all freeze plugs, askets and seals,were replaced. Engine starts and runs great. I have included a list of all parts replaced and listing of labor performed.

Remove seats and carpet.

Remove engine and transmission.

Remove rear wheels, rake drums and right rear axle.

Remove left rear axle.

Clean, rep and paint left side interior.

Install R-blox in interior.

Remove two broken studs from exhaust manifold. Clean and paint.

Clean engine for paint.

Clean, aint and polish parts. (Heater box, indshield wiper motor, um signal control box and other firewall accessories.)

Install wiper motor.

Repair and install brake line.

Clean, olish & install switches and knobs in dash

Assemble and install brake and clutch pedal box and master cylinder

Install dash.

Install wiring harness.

Repair worn clutch pedal hole. Install brake and clutch pedals.

Install wiring under dash

Fit wing beading.

Remove steering wheel.

Cleaned engine frame and wheel wells for paint

Painted engine frame and wheel wells black

Tighten wings.

Replace tum signal gem

Fit bumper grommets.

Replaced chrome on steering wheel shaft, ecured horn wiring.

Installed boot lid seal.

Assembled and installed heater controls under dash

Installed bonnet bumpers on body.

Cleaned front tum signal lamp base and painted

Attached brake line to manifold and clutch line to flex line

Installed master cylinder.

Rebuild Lucas Generator

Engine: Removed and replaced timing chain and chain tensioner, eplaced timing chain cover seal, nd replaced oil by-pass spring and ball. Reassembled and painted engine MG red.

Installed new clutch kit to engine. Reinstalled transmission. Inst.alled engine and transmission to car.

Installed interior carpet kits, oor panel kit, nd trunk kit.

Inst.alled both passenger and driver seat assemblies.

Installed both doors and aligned.

Installedbonnet and boot lids.

Installednew wheels and tires.

Installed radiator and hoses.

Overhauled carburetors.Installednew throttle shafts and bushings. Installed carburetors.

Installed head lamps, turn signals, nd rear brake light assemblies.

Installed grill.

Disassembled and overhauled front suspension.

Installed overhauled shock absorbers.

Installed new wheel bearings and seals.

Reassembled front suspension.

Disassembled car for paint.

Assembled windshield

Installed windshield assembly.

Disassembled top. Cleaned and painted frame.

Installed new sunfast top.

Bled brakes and clutch.

Installed radiator.

Serviced engine and transmission

Reinstalled exhaust

Installed new battery and cables.

Performed run checks and adjusted carbs.

Installed wipers.

Installed spare tire cover.

Installed mirrors.

This is my father-in-laws (Gary) car, e bought it from the original owner, Madera, a resident. The car was bought for the daughter of a local resident when the daughter was in high school, riven for some years and then parked in a barn until Gary purchased it. At time of purchase the speedo had 68K on it, nd didn't work, riginal owner said shehadn'tdriven it long after the speedo stopped. Gary, urchased it, rove it very occasionally, nly local in the small town of Madera, aybe once a month and then parked it in his garage for several years, ustdidn'thave time to mess with starting it and getting it out, t was parked sideways in the garage. In 2009 he trailered it to British Steel in Fresno, A to have it restored, ot frame off but very through. They replaced everything that needed replacing including the hubs and wheels. I am not sure how they prepped the body for paint but am pretty sure it was taken to bare metal, he car had a blue Earl Shibe paint job over the original red. The dash was still red when Gary purchased it, t was a darker red, he color on it now is Miata Red, ary is partial to red cars. Since the restore, he car has been driven very little, nce a month maybe, hen recent less than that due to health reasons. The engine is the original and doesn't smoke.

I would like to say a couple of things about who I am. I am helping Gary sell this, e is 83 years old and barely does email. I am very involved with this family and the restoration of this car, had and recently sold a 1967 custom mustang and had a career as an aircraft mechanic. I tell you this to give myself credibility. This is a beautiful car. Gary spent $23000 at British Steel and we have in invoices to prove it.
