RARE 1955 MGA 1500

Up for auction is an EXTREMELY RARE 1955 MGA 1500 roadster in solid restoration condition. Originally a California car. I bought it from a guy in Reno last year. It hasn't seen much rain! MG began manufacturing MGA's in late September. 1955. They made 1003 cars in that year. This is car #835 (out of 104. 0 total made). made in November of that year. Body number is 20851. engine number BP15GB 977. The engine paint is MG green. indicating that it probably came off the Morris line. Not unusual for early cars. It has the original gauges. with the funky numbers. which were changed in April. 1956. to the more familiar MGA gauges. The car is mostly complete. missing a drivers seat frame and some chrome. including the grille. It has some dents and dings. One rocker needs replacement. But no cancer on the fenders. A former owner put MGB wheels on it. I do have a set of disc wheels for it. There are 4 in the photo. but I have another in storage. making a complete set of the more popular (and stronger) wheels. The engine turns and has oil in it. The frame is solid. as is the trunk area. The car is registered with NAMGAR. Wish that I could do the restoration. but a knee replacement and loss of storage space necessitate the sale. It has great possibilities and is a collector car. but needs a good home and a conscientious person to do the work. I do have the original ID plate. which corresponds to engine number. Took it off for safe keeping!
