*Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
I always figured I would be buried in this car but I'm throwing it up here to possibly find it a home where it will be driven, rather than just sit in a garage like it has done with me for the past 4+ years.
I built this car about 10 years ago, drove it a bit but then slowly garaged it more than I drove it due to countless other projects absorbing my time. This was my daily driver for over a year while I was in college but after that year I started to only drive it every summer/other summer. It is a fun little car that has had so much work done to it. Just about everything that can be replaced, was. If it wasn't replaced it was refurbished and reinstalled. If it's a part that could still use replacing then I likely have a replacement ready to go. I can't even keep track of everything that has been done to the car but I'll start a list of work/new parts installed that I'll keep adding to as I think of new things.
I have tons of build photos on an SD card, inches thick of receipts (some even from the 90s), documentation, and parts new and old that go along with it. After sitting for 4 years I put a new battery in, gave the Weber a quick clean and it fired right up. This thing is bulletproof. The 1974 model is the best since it had all of the chrome bumper benefits like round wheel arches and a few of the 1975+ benefits like a tunnel cut out for installing the driveshaft and a reinforced frame. I've owned two other Midgets and both were sold for over half the price I'm asking and they didn't even run and were basically bare bone projects so this one is a steal.
Note that it is not a perfect vehicle whatsoever. From sitting it could use the clutch system bled, some cleaning, etc. While I drove it more or less as is for many years, I would still do some things to it like clean up the wiring and replace/fix a handful of little things here and there, repaint it, etc. The paint has some normal daily driver defects and needs buffing but the body is nice and straight. The white meatballs are just vinyl decals by the way. I wouldn't call it a project since I drove it as a daily in basically it's current condition but it could always improve in some way. It could use some tuning with jets and such but runs just fine now.. It moves great and keeps up with traffic just fine. The carb prime pump gasket is leaking from sitting, it could use an oil change, the driver's seat has some seam splits and the wiper stalk is loose. I never bothered getting the wipers working since I never drove it in the rain and 2nd gear could use a new detent (these are known to have second gear pop out while decelerating unless you hold it in). It doesn't overheat, changes through all gears, moves quick enough, stops just fine, is street legal, doesn't need emissions testing, gets good gas mileage, attracts a ton of attention, is super unique, fairly rare and overall the most fun you'll have driving.
