Car description

One fantastic MGB.......
The general consensus of opinion is that later model MGBs, the infamous 'rubber bumper' cars, are a drug on the market. Slow, ill handling, ungainly, and to some people's opinion...ugly. But not this car.
I was doing this car as an ultimate MGB....started with a low mileage, rust free example. It underwent an elaborate chrome bumper conversion using all new chrome, new sheet metal and lights, new hardware and is now indistinguishable from an earlier car. AND is has passed the 'kitchen magnet' test, no sign of plastic filler and the photos show how excellent it is underneath. No damage, no rust, no repairs, pretty much the way it left the factory.
When painted, detailed in the engine bay, trunk carpeted and rather plush, in my opinion, ready for a local show.
Excellent engine, perfect compression (140-150 psi), perfect oil pressure (65-70 psi warm), no smoke hot of cold, fitted with SU carbs offering the power of the earlier cars. Connected to an excellent 4 speed transmission with overdrive, clicks 'in' and 'out' instantly and seems to be in perfect condition. Offering a usable 5th gear for quieter highway cruising.
Power assist disc brakes, thicker front AND rear sway bars for excellent handling (earlier MGBs didn't even have a front sway bar), rear tube shock conversion, center lock wire wheels with new Kumho 185/70 radials (the higher profile offers even higher gearing for lower revs on the highway), new chrome knock offs, lowered to pre 1975 MGB ride height (for superior handling and looks), starts, stops, and goes around corners as well as the best MGBs.
Interior: beautiful leather seats, Honey teak wood dashboard, new carpets and panels, a nice wood steering wheel, and a new premium cloth top. ALSO added is power windows and they work perfectly. For a touch of extra luxury.
A new stereo/CD with USB input, electrical system has been improved with a secondary fuse box using modern fuses, an older style distributor has been used with modern magnetic induction electronic ignition, new Mallory coil, wiring harness is in excellent condition, has thermostatically controlled radiator cooling fans, more powerful 2 speed heater fan.........the result is a first class MGB in ultimate specification with overdrive, SU carbs, and wire wheels.
I wouldn't have any qualms about driving this car anywhere. For really cold Winter's use, I can fit a powerful supplement heater OR for a hot weather environment, can fit a modern air conditioning system. Can't make it fly but one can wind up with a nice, classic sports car with contemporary use and civility.
Best of all, this car is fun to drive at speeds that approximate legal speed limits. It will cruise all day, in top gear/overdrive, at 80-90 mph and speeds above that are really kind of academic. But what is really great is that at 'normal' 50-70 mph speeds, it is fun to drive....light, precise steering, sure braking, an excellent shifting gearbox, and handling is fantastic (and a note on this....'handling' and the G Force capability of a modern car on super low profile wide tires are two different entitites. This MG is fun to take to and over the limit of tires sticking to the pavement and is great fun drifting at speeds not designed to kill the driver).
I just bought a 1980 MGB which I am finishing for my own use and this 1977 has to go soon. It is not selling for a third of what it is worth (and I have a small fortune invested) and there is a reasonable reserve, but a serious potential buyer might choose too call and see what deal can be made. It is a fabulous example, far different in level of professional preparation than almost all of the other cars on eBay, and will make a future buyer/owner very happy. After all Spring 2019 is a mere three months away!
Due to issues I have had responding to eBay e mail inquiries, FAR BETTER to call. I am at 203-377-6746 during weekdays business hours, can store the car safety until ready for delivery, can help arrange delivery anywhere, and can add any options a buyer may want added.
Needless to say, payment can be cash, personal check, wire transfer (no PayPal unless for a deposit), title is clear and easily transferable, and I can be very helpful during the car's ownership with advice and recommendations.
