Car description

This car started life as a 1978 MG MGB Roadster. When I bought it, it ran very well, but the cosmetics needed freshening. So I decided to build it into something I always wanted, a vintage racer that could be driven on the street. I wanted it to look like an old racing sports car that was found after many years, and washed off and put back in use. I dismantled it almost down to the bare shell, and started reassembling it to recreate the image I had in my mind for so long. I started by repairing the rust in the usual places, which was mainly the dog legs just ahead of the rear wheels. I replaced them with new metal panels from Moss Motors. Once the body was solid, I had it sprayed with single stage enamel paint in British Racing Green. This particular shade is from a 1990's Jaguar. I used single stage enamel because I felt like it would give it more of a vintage look. The person who painted it was not a pro painter, and it did not come out as well as I hoped, but the fact that it has some imperfections adds to the old time appearance in my opinion. I wanted it to have a very low and long appearance, in fact many people who see it don't know what it is and ask if it is a vintage Jaguar. We fitted Moss Motors race springs in front that lowered the car 2 inches, plus Fab-Tek dropped spindles that lowered it another inch. In the rear we installed Moss 2 inch lowering leaf springs along with with 1 inch lowering blocks. We fabricated a custom dash and short windshield, added Stewart Warner gauges, a custom switch panel and electrical wiring harness that is very simple and easy to service. We removed the all the door handles, and the doors are opened by a pull cable.The seats are polyethylene buckets with covers, and are surprising comfortable. The wire wheels are powder coated, and fitted with new 195/70R-14 Toyo Extensa a/s tires that look great and really fill the wheel openings. The engine ran so well, we did not do anything to it internally, but added a Weber 45 DCOE carburetor, along with complete Tourist Trophy Sport stainless steel exhaust system including header. It really sounds good! There are so many custom items we added to this car, I will itemize as many as I can recall in a list, in no particular order;
+Moss 2 inch lowering springs, front & rear
+Fab-Tek 1 inch drop spindles, front+1 inch lowering blocks, rear+Urethane spring bushings & pads, rear+Powder coated wheels+Eared knockoff wheel nuts+Custom made dash+Stewart Warner gauges+Custom switches and switch panel+RCI polyethylene bucket seats with covers+Custom MG lap seat belts+Custom made aluminum interior panels+Short shifter with custom knob+Weber 45 DCOE carburetor+Tourist Trophy SS Sport exhaust with header+Replica Lucas PL700 Tripod headlamps+Odyssey Extreme PC925 battery+Custom wiring harness and fuse panel+Early style MGB tail lamp assemblies+Hella 7 inch driving lights+Replica Road Runner horn+Tourist Trophy 14 inch steering wheel+Sebring valences, front & rear+Custom mesh grille+Triumph TR6 flip open gas cap+Works type boot straps+Custom made decals+Solid state fuel pump+Custom made short windshield+Replica Raydot side mirrors+Fire extinguisher
I am sure there is more that I can't recall, as I spent over 2 years putting this together. There is no speedometer, I used a speedo app on my phone. I am not sure of the mileage, as there is no odometer. There are no wipers, or front turn signals, but they could be added. Although I have driven this on the street in Florida for months with no issue, I cannot say that it will be legal in your area. It could very easily be turned into a vintage race car if that is your desire. It is a blast to drive on the street, and gets thumbs ups and comments everywhere I take it. It is sold with no warranty expressed or implied, and is as-is.
