Hello Everyone,
Here we have an absolute gem of an MGA. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder and if your anything like me, You will see it in this one! Same owner since the late 60’s, Minimal rust, runs and drives great, and everything works, What else can you ask for in a project .
This car was a father son adventure since 1968 and has been well loved and maintained. It was important to them to keep the car functioning properly with everything working, but apparently aesthetics were not high on the priority list. The engine has been rebuilt and runs out very well. Most of the suspension has been done as were the brakes. In actuality most of the running gear has been lovingly maintained as is evident once you drive the car. This is not your clapped out terrible driving old car. Drives nice and straight with a tight feel. Even has newer wires, tires and hubs! If I’m complaining I would say downshifting to second likes to be double clutched. But overall it’s a super nice driving MGA.
The body has its fair share of dings and dents. But what’s pretty neat is it hasn’t been repainted since the mid 60’s as the original owner did not like the teal blue color, so he had it sprayed BRG. So basically it hasn’t had anything repaired, or shady body work done. You can see everything that is going on. The only rust that is evident is some peppering on the lower rockers and that seems to be it. Trunk, doors, frame, fenders etc all look great.
The interior is shabby and needs some work, but all the gauges function, and even the heater works. Luckily these cars have sparse interiors and a redo isn’t super involved. An aftermarket hard top is included if one was so inclined to use it, Some tools, a couple extra wheels, owners manual, etc. The convertible top is included but needs new canvas. Tonneau cover is actually pretty nice.
All in all I will say this is one of the better MGA projects we have had and one that will make the next owner proud, and should be a fun project. There is a bunch of receipts documenting work that was done, and its only a partial list as not everything was kept. But its definitely a nice indicator of a well loved car.
