Friends in the car club keep asking why I want to sell my beautiful 1978 MGB Limited Edition after all I have put in it. It runs great, the motor is strong and I’ve replaced every major part on it. My age has a lot to do with the sale, and I am wanting A/C. I’d like a daily driver sports car and the 100% humidity Deep South limits the car. Top down soft summer nights are a joy, however.
About the car, replacing the front oil seal fixed it’s oil leak and a recent 600 miler with some hard driving established its oil consumption at less than a quart per 600 more. Conversion to tube shocks on all for corners makes it rock solid on a highway and a fun car in the curves.
The body and frame are solid with no significant rust anywhere. I’m the third owner, and like the first two, have kept it garaged. It does have the “MG Signature Crack” just below the wing vents where the vent has been used to close the door - a simple repair I just have not had time to address.
Below are all the parts and work done to the car; significantly more than I am asking for the car. Extra parts, MG specific tools, shop manuals and catalogs will go with the car.
New clutch, plate, bearing, slave cylinder. New in last 18 months or less, tires, front spoiler, radiator, hoses, alternator, coil, electronic distributor; starter, ignition, motor mounts, head with APR bolts & studs, Payen gaskets, front oil seal, rebuilt Weber carb, brake master cylinder, booster, rotors, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, shoes, tube shocks conversion. Triplex windshield, carpet, battery, am/fm/cd/MP3 player, 4 Boss speakers, boot cover and frame, steering wheel, fuel pump, trunk carpet and tire cover, steer rack boots, tie rod ends, front suspension bushings, 3 point seat belts, wheel bearings, rear windscreens, top 3-4 years old with no rips or tears. Garages last 20 plus years.
No warranties. No help selling. No offers outside of eBay.
I am posting for my uncle so questions will require coordination and may take a moment to answer.
