Car description |

Up for auction will NO RESERVE we have a 1961 MG Midget MKI. This is nice running, fun driving car that does need a little work to make perfect or could be used as it is. It currently runs and drives well and shows 69,500 on the odometer and is titled and registered in California.
The Old English White paint is in average condition, while it shines up well it has blemishes and quite a few touch up spots, but at first glance is decent. There are also some spots beginning to bubble on the left rear fender; please see the photos for greater detail. The doors open easily but the handle needs to be lifted in order to close them. The fit and gap are nice and overall the body is very straight. The chrome is complete and still has some good shine left to it. The windshield is nice and clear with no cracks. The rims and tires are in good shape, and have plenty of tread all around. The floors have been replaced at one point with new metal but there is currently no rust visible underneath.
Starting from cold the car runs smooth, and the manual choke works well. The engine sounds strong and shows good oil pressure. On the road the car feels great, and drives quite well. The steering feels great, very responsive and tight, it stops well but the pedal feels a little long. The parking brake works beautifully. This Midget appears to have no suspension noises, and has no bonks or creeks when going down the road. The clutch feels great, unfortunately second gear synchro is weak and will jump out of gear occasionally.
The fuel gauge and tachometer do not currently work. The speedometer does work but jumps around a bit which is common, the rest of the gauges are fully functional and they are original to the car. Windshield wipers work but the car needs some blades installed. The push horn works as well. Electrically the indicators, headlights, sidelights and taillights work but the brake lights do not, perhaps just a bad switch.
The interior is complete, and looks really nice. The seats are original and have no tears or rips with plenty of padding left in them. The black carpet throughout is lovely and complete. This MG comes with a top and frame as well as side curtains.
Overall while this car needs some work to make perfect these early Midgets are just a blast to drive and this one is no exception and can be yours with a starting bid of $3,000. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. As always I would recommend driving and viewing the car if at all possible. My descriptions are in depth on purpose and give an honest evaluation of the car. I have sold dozens of classic British cars on ebay with only positive feedback, thanks for looking. Please call (310) 833-1525 for an appointment.
