Car description |
---|
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very honest and early production MGA Roadster. This car was just purchased from a Detroit, Michigan family where it was stored in their garage for the last 40 years. According to the Father/son owners, this MG had it's engine rebuilt and was modestly repainted some time before being stored. Life got in the way and this car has now emerged all of these years later in a pretty well-preserved state, needing some easy recommissioning. The body on this car appears very honest and straight with good gaps. Grille fit is excellent. It appears at some point the rockers were replaced along with some minor dogleg repairs, most likely when the car was last repainted in it's original red. The respray was an inexpensive job, having painted over the fender beading, but it has held up all these years now and still looks quite presentable. This car has been largely preserved and never apart for a restoration. Chromework is original but older. Most of the the rubber has gone hard. The car's interior is presentable and still OK for a driver. The dashboard appears to be the original red paint. Seats have been retrimmed in vinyl with a clean black loop carpet kit. A few panels are missing but can be easily sourced. The car still retains it's original sidecurtain bag behind the seats and it's grey spare wheel cover in decent shape. The softtop is older and tight (shrunk), needing replacement. The engine turns nicely by hand and should run with a bit of work. The car could use a general recommissioning such as brake/clutch hydraulics, fuel system, fluids changed, etc.- all the usual to get a car up and running/driving after 40 years of storage. The exhaust looks good. The car's underside looks fairly good overall. There is evidence of some minor inner rocker repair. The frame looks great, very solid and straight. It's dirty and could use a good clean.Overall, a nice, early, well-preserved 1956 MGA 1500 Roadster with wire wheels, needing some general recommissioning. This car has been tucked away in a garage for years and comes with some good older patina. This car could be carefully improved cosmetically along with some mechanical work to make it a very presentable, approachable, usable driver.
