RELISTED: Due to non-paying 'buyer'.
Per eBay listing rules, payment due in full immediately with Buy It Now, or via auction within seven days of closing (a $500 deposit is required within 48 hours).
Also, while I welcome questions or clarification requests, please take the time to read the entire description. I've received several questions that had answers already presented below.
The car is registered in Virginia, where I bought it and resided before moving to Louisiana, which is where the car is located now and at my home in a climate controlled garage.
*****************. ***********************************
I am not technically savvy, nor a sports car aficionado. I love the body style, so I bought the car. That's the extent of my expertise. This car was a Sunday driver, and the occasionaldrive downtown for a night out.
Although we drove it very little, I did keep up with maintenance, but the engine failed me a couple months ago. I was driving along the highway on a very short trip (<10mi) when the engine began to stall. Before I could pull on the shoulder, I heard a clunk... then the engine died. No smoke or other tangible warnings. I called for a tow, pushed it into my climate controlled garage, and it's been setting there ever since. I've tried to crank it once since... it turns, but clunks and does not start.
I called a couple local mechanics to no avail. One shop told me "I don't even know anyone who remembers how to work on that car." I live in a small town, with the nearest potential resource for repair 45 miles away. I don't have the time or desire to have it looked at, and I'd rather sell it as is to an enthusiastic buyer who will embrace this project.
So, here it is. Offered at far less than its marketable value in good running condition. Please check resources like KBB to find its value in good running condition, then subtract speculated cost to repair/replace the engine. That may help to determine your bidding position. Again, I don't know what's wrong with the engine... but expect the worst.
Here's what I know:

Here's what I know:
- IT'S NOT RUNNING
- I have the title in hand, it is clear
- The battery is a 12v reverse ground
- The transmission engages properly, a bit noisy in 1st gear (I had it inspected in 2013 and was told this is pretty common)
- There is rust forming around the driver's side tail light
- Some rust spots below the doors
- There are a couple small dings on the body
- The only instrument that was working correctly was the tachometer
- Actual mileage is unknown
- The top has a couple small rips
- The interior dash lights do not work
- The suspension was a bit squishy - I suspect bushings are original or old
- The tires have low mileage, but the passenger rear has a slow leak
- The knock-off painted wire wheels are original - a similar chrome wheel is in the boot on the spare
- The passenger door is slightly mis-aligned. It closes, but NOT securely. It should be realigned for safety
- The tires have low mileage, but the passenger rear has a slow leak
- The knock-off painted wire wheels are original - a similar chrome wheel is in the boot on the spare
- The taillight lenses
- The wipers arms/blades
- The steering wheel is a $350 aftermarket non-repro wood w/ polished stainless steel, plus the $85 adaptor & $20 horn button (from Moss Motors, I think). Original wheel not available.
- The shift knob is an aftermarket wooden non-repro
- Premium floor mats with embroidered MG
- Seat belts with MG on chrome clasp
- Rear view mirror
I cannot answer the following questions with certainty:
- Why doesn't the car run?
- How much will it cost to get it running?
- Has the car ever been in an accident?
- Does the body have repairs?
- Is the paint original?
- Is the top original?
- I welcome and encourage a hands-on inspection by the prospective buyer, or a third party agent hired by the prospective buyer.
- Arrangements for transport MUST be initiated and paid by the buyer.
- I will hold the car for NLT 2 weeks after payment has cleared.
- The car is sold as is with no guarantee or warranty other than what I've stated in the description.
