Car description

This is a beautiful example of the 51 MG. I have owned it for a number of years and it has been driven only periodically. It has recently had a new clutch installed and has had the engine resealed (sadly. as with all MG's I know of. in spite of the reseal of all engine and transmission parts it continues to dribble oil - as they say with MG's and B-52 Stratfortresses - the only time you worry about the puddle of oil underneath it is when there isn't one because that means it is out of oil!!!!) The rebuilder did check compression and confirmed that the engine was in fine working order. I bought this car out of California in 2and was told it was always a California car. Do not know for sure. but it runs and drives outstandingly. Since I have owned it it has had a complete front end rebuild. complete engine reseal and a new clutch along with a new top and side curtains. It has been maintained and is a pleasure to drive. I have also restored all the gauges and restored the engine bay with period components. At present I have over $35K in the car and am ready to pass it along to a new owner. It has been a fun car and happily goes down the road in a straight line at 60mph (although it will take you 24 hours or so to get to that speed!!!). It shows 1101 miles on the speedo at the moment. due to the rebuild. but I think the actual mileage on the car is probably around 75K (just my guess. it is mileage exempt). The engine doesn't burn any oil and it fires right up whenever it is asked to. In spite of the bad reputation of British cars. I must say that in all the years we've owned this one it has bee a charm- never fails to start and has been a easy own. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the paint a 8. With a buff it is outstanding. It does have a few bubbles from its longevity and a scratch here or there. but overall - pretty good. Under the hood I'd say it is a 8 out of 10 as well with everything being in far better than average condition. I've put a fuel pump and belts an hoses in since I've had it and you'll get all the receipts on purchase. Tires - less than 500 miles. Top - less than 2 years old. Interior - 8 of 10. Everything is in excellent condition. According to the numbers on the tags and the engine it is a numbers matching original drive train. As I said I've rebuilt the suspension and resealed the engine and replaced the clutch since I've owned. Anything else you need to know - give me a call 713-825-0383. I just got back from Barrett Jackson and saw a green one of these in far worse condition sell for $88K. so by comparison this is a bargain. www. phoenixrestorations. us to see any of my cars.
