Car description

This is a very nice 1954 MG TF1250, originally Birch Grey in color. The present paint appears to have been well applied many years ago, and has no sags, runs or areas of rust. It shows its age with scuffs and minor scratches, but it is a car that required no apologies. The mileage showing on the odometer is 61,539, and there is every reason to believe that this is genuine mileage. The owners have always lived in rust-free areas, and the car has always been stored indoors. It is titled as a 1955 since that was when the car was first sold, but let me make clear that this is NOT a TF1500 - it is a 1250.
The chrome appears to be original (right down to the original glass lenses of the fender lamps), and shows the patina that only age can confer. Even the bumpers appear original, and gentle use of chrome polish and steel wool should remove most blemishes. (Florida is humid.) The vulnerable places like the front fender tips are in perfect condition, and the car shows no signs of being in an accident. The door fit is very good, as can be seen in the photographs. The older-replaced tan interior is in very nice condition with no rips, tears or scuffs, and the carpet fits well. The knobs and switches are all original, the instruments work welland even the trip-odometer reset knob is still in place! The Michelin tires haveplenty of tread but do have some dry rot.
With a little normal choke the car starts right up with no smoke or odd noises, and runs strong - the TF1250 engine (with matching numbers)puts out 57HP, a solid 5% more than a stock TD. Hot driving oil pressure is steady at40,and at idle,20.The original transmission shifts well with no loud noises.Under the bonnet, the air cleaners have been replaced, and the valve cover is from a TC, The car comes with a nice tonneau, and a complete set of side curtains. In the tool box are found
In short, this is an HONEST car - not a show car, but a perfectly presentable TF, to which relatively little has been done over the years other than normal maintenance. It has not been restored heavily, it has not been tarted-up with a quickie paint job to sell it. It runs well and quietlyand would be at home in anyone's garage - it is a car to be proud of. The best measure of this is that it still sports the original steel wheels, and has not been converted to the popular wires, which are readily-available today. I am happy to answer any questions, and supply more photographs.
