I have eight (yes…8) MGC’s and that’s 6 or 7 too many. So. it’s time to thin the herd and this one is next up for sale. For those who follow these types of cars. nbsp;approximately 9000 MGC’s were made for model years 1968 and 1969. Roughly half of the production were roadsters and the other half were GT’s. Let me be upfront. this car is dirty. My storage warehouse where I keep some of my cars has no water. I parked the car and haven't touched it. When I took pictures today is the first time in months I have even looked at it. So. try to look past the grunge. This is a solid car. This MGCGT started life in British Racing Green and at some point was painted Black. The job was pretty bad and looks like it was done with a spray can. The engine compartment and interior is still British Green. The car is pretty darn solid with minor rust in the rockers and some surface rust on the roof and by the passenger side back window. Floor boards look good. The car has the steel bonnet (which some prefer) due it being stronger than the aluminum bonnet. I don't the think the car has been hit. The inner fenders look good and the slam panel is straight. The spare tire well is solidThe previous owner had the car since the late 1980's and turned it over to a restoration shop a few years ago to have it restored. Like so many cases. the shop went out of business and the owner was left with an unfinished car. He didn't have the heart to finish so I bought it last year. Well. there's no way I have the time or money to restore all the cars I have so this one has to go. Some work was done before the restoration was abandoned: New dash - the dash is beautifulRebuilt gauges - the correct tachometer and correct 140 mph speedometer was rebuilt New wiring harnessNew radiatorThe engine was supposedly rebuilt sometime during this process. I have not tried to get the engine running. The car has the correct 4 speed transmission with electric overdrive. The PO wanted to install a heated back hatch glass so he installed a hatch from an MGB. The original MGC unheated back hatch is included The interior is in disarray. The leather for the seats is actually in good shape and not ripped (although the passenger seat had a seam removed and needs to be resewn). The seats have the correct 1969 only dual post headrests. The headliner is decent. However the carpet is gone and the door panels are shot. As I mentioned. the dash has been replaced and is perfect. The original style brake master is present and holds fluid. As you may know. the MGC brake master is unique to the car and is very expensive to replace if missing. The original servos are included. however. they need rebuilding. The carbs were removed for rebuilding and the rebuild was never completed. They are sitting in the front seat along with the rebuild kit. Lots of spare parts are included including brake drums. center consoles. chrome trim. gauges. etc. I have not gone through them all nor do I plan to. Think of it as a grab bag!In summary this car is ugly (I haven't washed it it) but is a solid car to restore. A well known MGC expert saw the car and says it is very solid and well worth restoring. It may look like pitiful at the moment; however. if someone took the time to sort through it and clean it up I think they will be pleasantly surprised.
