I remember while attending the University of Miami in Coral Gables Floridaseeing my first 1959 MGA Roadster....it was in October of 1958...it was the samecolor combination as this car....Black with a black top and tan interior and itbelonged to kid from New York who was a a member of the ZBT fraternity.
At the U of M, ZBT was recognized as having fraternity brothers from the "Bucks Up" families.
My first impression was "That is one cool looking convertible!"
I have heard this expression repeated 1000's of times over the past 50+years.....if a car is considered cool and sexy when it's new.....then 30, 40, 50, 60years later it will be cherished by car gals & guys worldwide. It will appreciatein value and will be sought-after by car lovers all over the world!
Such isthe case with this "drop dead gorgeous" 1959 MGA Roadster!
It is not a great idea to be the one who spends the tons of dollars it takesto restore any car...especially one that is 57 years old.
This is certainly one of the nicest restored 1959 MGA roadsters I have seenand had the pleasure to drive!
The MGA was a British sports car that was produced in Abingdon,England from1955 through 1962.
It replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and was a complete departure and change from thestodgy and stoic styling of its predecessor.
The all new MGA Roadster was officially launched and debuted on the26th of September,in 1955 at the Frankfort Motor Show. It had the 1500cc flat four engine rated at 68hp with 4/speedmanual transmission. It was uprated to 72hp for the following model year.
Offered with either wire spoke or steel disc road wheels, this stunning MGA has thegorgeous wire-spoke wheels (5)
These cars featured independent suspension with coil springs & wishbone in the frontand a rigid axle with semi elliptical springs at the rear.
InMayof1959 the standard cars also received an updated engine, now at 1588cc producing79.5bhp (59kW; 81PS) .
At the front disc brakes were fitted, but drums remained in the rear.
Only 119 RHD Roadsters (model HS-106) were sold in Great Britain in 1959 while 6149 models were
built and shipped to North America. This was considered to be one of the coolest in-crowd Britishsports carto drive in 1959.
This car is such a blast to drive...be sure and watch the test drive videos in our auction and all of the hi-definitionphotographs...the photos appear after the copy ends...give them time to all load on your computer.
The chrome was redone to high standards and shows very nice.
The body is super straight as is evidenced by the fit of the doors, hood and trunk.
The convertible top and Tonneau cover is new and have never seen any sun or rain. This carhas always been garage kept since restored.
The engine was completely and professionally rebuilt for it's owner at the time, Mark MaCrihill.
According to the invoice from AER in Madison, N.J., 4 Manley stainless steel valves were used.
The block and all parts were "Hot Tanked"
A complete valve job was done,
8 new guides were installed and press fit, the head was milled. The block was line honed and blocked & new cam bearings installed.
The crankshaft was polished and the rods were rebuilt.
The crank, rods and pistons were balanced & the engine carefully assembled.
This car cranks right up the 1st time....every time.
All the gauges are functional.
This MGA looks great, sounds great and most important Drives great!

It is priced way under current market values for a matching numbers car restored to thislevel.
If you buy a fixer/upper, a "driver" or a car that looks great from 10' or 20' you'll never be happy
with the way it looks and drives...in the end you'll spend a lot more money than buying a car all done.
Wespend countless hours writing the descriptions of every car we offer exclusively onebaymotors.comand spend many hours taking 100's of photographs and then selecting the best 75-100 pictures on every car.
We spend countless hours making sure every car we offer is the best it can be. If we find a light bulb out,we replace it. The interior courtesy bulb is out and we are looking for a replacement.
We do our best to never "Surprise" anyone.
This MGA is agorgeous 57 year old car...it's not perfect...nor do we believe there is such a thing asperfect on a40, 50, or 60 year old automobile. This is one is one of the nicest looking and runningMGA Roadsters you could ever find.
If a car needs a new battery....we install one.... and on this we looked for the best possible battery available and webought and installed it...The former owner who purchased this car in South Florida in 2008, said he only drove thecar during the Summer and due to his busy schedule, drove it less than 500 miles between 2008 and the present day. This is why he decided to sell his beloved MGA...to give someone else who had more time to drive and enjoy this Classic.
We drive all of our cars for 50-200 or more milesand if we find something not working...we fix it....if we don't fix it---we tell you in the auction copy what is not working and if by some rare chance we overlooked it...then call usand we will do our best to make it right.
One of my pet complaints is spending good $ for a car that arrives with barely enough gas toget it off the truck...that will never be the case with any car sold by us. Ten gallons will fill thiscar and you can run regular grade fuel.
Every fabulous classic car we sell, is shipped covered in a brand new "Car Condom" Yes, that is it'sreal name...a clear light weight plastic cocoon with fitted elastic all around it's base.
We detail your car to the highest standards and we don't want it to arrive with dust or from something thatmight drip onto you car from another car above your car inside the carrier....we ONLY recommendtransporting any caryou purchase from us arriving in an enclosed carrier. Mary Olson with Crossroads Transportcan arrange that for you and at a great price....she has shipped more than 1000 cars for our customersand for us over the past 12 years....she is the best!
