About the MG TD:

Made in Abingdon, xfordshire, he MG T series was the iconic British sports car with remarkable handling, tyle and beautiful lines, ven if the 0-60 times paled next to American hot rods. The MG was credited with starting the postwar sports car craze in North America. Notes from Wiki and elsewhere:

TheMG T seriesis a range ofbody-on-frameconvertiblesports carsthat were produced byMGfrom 1936 to 1955. The series included theMG TA,MG TB,MG TC,MG TD, ndMG TF Midgetmodels. The last of these models, he TF, as replaced by theMGA.

The 1950MG TDcombined the TC's drivetrain, modifiedhypoid-geared rear axle, heMG Y-typechassis, familiar T-type style body andindependent suspensionusing coil springs from the MG Y-type saloon: a 1950 road-test report described as "most striking" the resulting "transformation... in the comfort of riding".[7]Also lifted from the company's successful1¼-litre saloonfor the TD was the (still highly geared)rack and pinionsteering.[7]In addition the TD featured smaller15-inch (380mm) disc type road wheels, left-hand drive option and standard equipment bumpers and over-riders. The car was 5 inches/130mm) wider with a track of 50 inches/1,300mm.

Nearly 30,000 TDs were produced, ncluding about 1,700 Mk II models, hen the series ended in 1953 with all but 1,656 exported, 3,488 of them to the US alone.
