1964 mercury Comet Caliente Custom Hardtop Street Rod

Custom Built One of a kind Street Rod. 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente professionally built on rotisserie. All Floor pans replaced. rear lower quarter panels replaced Frame connectors fabbed and welded in while on rotisserie. Mustang 2 suspension installed and beefed up with steel reinforcement in structural areas around crossmember. Rear differential disassembled cleaned and rebuilt with all new bearings and seals and gaskets and reassembled and painted and installed with new leaf springs. Engine and transmission are from a 1999 mustang Cobra with all forged internals. Engine disassembled and professionally refreshened with new bearings and rings and valve seals and camshafts upgraded to aggressive sounding comp cams (4) with upgraded behive springs and retainers. Additionally all new timing chains and guides and tensioners were replaced for high quality. Ford racing aluminum flywheel installed along with new 11'' clutch and pressure plate and throwout bearing. Virtually everything from the front of the car to the rear has been totally rebuilt. The Pictures will reveal the high quality of the car. It is a multiple show winner. Out of the last 8 shows it has been in it has received best Paint. best of show. best interior. best engine. best engineering awards. Entire car was disassembled and painted all separately to ensure all hard to reach areas were well painted then carefully assembled and all trim reinstalled. These comets are very rare and some of the trim items are very hard to obtain. Everything is refinished to show quality. The Paint is a beautiful 3stage Pearl metallic . The cobra engine fills up the engine bay and looks similar in size to one of the 427 sohc engines. Runs and drives fantastic. It is not a race car but horse power is estimated at 375 and with the car under 3000 lbs the acceleration is very quick. with the large radiator and cooling fans it runs cool even in summer weather. wheels are 17'' American racing mags. Some would list it as a pro touring car and it can be driven anywhere with no issues. I prefer to call it a street rod or restomod. It has some one of a kind features. the front fenders are custom worked to the vertical headlamps like the 1965 but if you notice the sides of the fenders they are 64 all the way to the front. It has a 6 disc cd in the trunk wich operates off the radio buttons. It is a custom audio sound unit and has 5 speakers including a powered subwoofer under the rear package tray area. It has ac (a hurricane unit from old air products in Texas) the controls are integrated into the factory heat and defrost controls. It also features electric exhaust cut-outs operated by a hidden switch under the dash( great car cruise in feature)It has an awesome sound with an x-pipe and two chamber flowmasters. there are many many nice features to this beautiful little car.
