Unrestored with the exception of some cosmetic work on body to repair rust and 1 paint job somewhere around 15 years ago. 49k original miles (yes. really). Straight 6-cylinder. 4 door. You can pretty much see everything else in the photos. There is a glitch in the wiring that's causing the gauges to be wonky and the horn not to work. I don't know anything about wiring but as soon as it gets warm I'll try to fix it. It's minor. I'm sure of it. Here's the tale of my Comet (It's a girl. by the way). I bought it in 1987 when I was 22 years old. I bought because it was really freaking cool. and it had cat-eye tail lights. And it was black. I sold my 1985 Ford EXP so I could get this car. I sold a 2 year old car that I bought brand new so I could get this one that was already 24 years old -- 2 years older than me. It belonged to a retired East Side (St. Paul) police officer. He owned it. but he didn't drive it. It was his father's and his father had passed away. and the son hung onto it. He kept it in his garage and I remember him telling me that he'd go out and start it once a month. It had a smidge under 25k miles on it at the time. as you can see by the title photo. I drove it for two years as my only car. I didn't want to beat it up so I got a more practical vehicle but held on to the Comet because I loved her. And I rarely ever drove her again. I'd go out to the garage (after I bought a house) and start it once a month. In 2008 I had a new garage built at home. and the Comet has her own room. In 2013 I told myself that I either need to drive it or part with it. so I had some carburetor something-or-other done to it. and I drove it. Four times. Total. I've spent this winter avoiding putting it up for sale. knowing that I really should. This car should be seen and driven. and I feel like it's someone else's turn to love. So here it is. Is it perfect? Um. no. For instance. it needs carpet on the front floor. and the radio isn't factory installed but it is original to the make/model. which is why there is no antenna. *And here's what I ask of anyone looking at this post. Do NOT write to me and tell me that you don't like the price. I don't care if you don't like the price. I really. really don't. This car is a collector. and a piece of history. and it's probably got fewer miles on it than what's in your driveway right now. I've taken care of it for more than half of my life. and I've invested as much money into is as I'm asking for someone to give me to part with it. Even getting this close to posting it for sale is making me feel like throwing up a little. So if you don't like the price. please enjoy the photos and move on. I'm not a motorhead. and I have never had any desire to be. Any work ever done was by a professional who was paid to do it. So if you ask me mechanical questions. I'll be answering like a girl. Because I am one.
