Style and sophistication meet an overall powerful package in this 1969 Mercury Cougar. And while it's the Mustang's lower production cousin (right down to the 351 V8 under the hood,) this rarity is available for a much more obtainable price.
The Cougar has the right proportions for a performance hardtop, but it also walks with a big cat premium swagger. The styling has a sophisticated appearance with the sweeping body crease running from the front fender to the rear wheel opening. The bumpers love to hug the car's form as they cradle the full width panels that house the rear lights and hide the headlights. The creamy yellow paint has a nice finish. Plus, it really lets you see premium pieces, like the taut black vinyl roof and the matching pinstripe that showcases this car's curves. You'll really enjoy this Mercury's presentation, right down to the details, including the styled steel wheel with correct Cougar center caps.
The interior captures the vintage premium feeling correctly with its very stock style. A premium Mercury means leather seats with buckets up front and wide headrests. Good carpeting, a clean dash, and an upgraded wood-rimmed steering wheel make for a nice place to spend some time. There are even cool classic features like the factory air conditioning (will need servicing,) plenty of wood-like trim, and the AM radio that's still cranking out tunes.
Power for the big cat comes from a 351 cubic-inch V8, which is a perfect fit in the Cougar's engine bay. It looks nice thanks to recent work including painting the intake, valve covers, and air topper. Plus, they added a new Holley four-barrel carburetor. It fires up nicely while making a nice sound out of the newer X-pipe dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. This one was built to driver, and so you get features, like three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes with upgraded Wilwood front discs for superior stopping control.
We could tell you that the Cougar gives you everything you love about a classic Mustang for less money, but you know this Mercury is much more than that. That's why we know the deal on this affordable classic hardtop won't stick around long. Call today!!!
