This Mercury is what you've been looking for! Complete Frame off restoration six years ago, and is the talk of every show and cruise it goes to! Multiple award winner, and a crowd pleaser. Goodguys 2017 Cool 50's pick.
Check out the original green tinted clear moonroof in this car! This was the rare Sun Valley package offered in the Mercury Monterey, and only 5500 or so were produced in two years of production. This is the centerpiece, and the conversation starter at all of our local shows.
Car has been restored using original yellow paint on the body and green top. Interior is restitched in factory appearing colors and fabric as well. All guages and interior options work, and white faced Mooneyes Tachometer is included.
Engine is the original 256 Mercury Y Block, and transmission is the original Merc-O-Matic three speed auto. Both have been rebuilt. Engine was fitted with an Edelbrock 500 cfm carburetor, and has recently received electronic ignition and a complete tune-up. Stock exhaust manifolds have been replaced with Red's Headers with jet-hot style coating. Dual exhaust all the way through the back with new glasspack mufflers. Offenhouser finned aluminum valve covers and a chrome air cleaner were also fitted. Car has Vintage heat and Air Conditioning, and has been fully converted to 12V power. Starts easily and runs smoothly with both a mechanical fuel pump or switched-on brand new electric fuel pump. Engine compartment is dressed up, and needs nothing for you to proudly open the hood at any show. Radiator support was recently painted to match body as well. Car runs cool, and performs well.
Car has modern power brake booster and dual master cylinder, but maintains stock drum brakes all around. Steering is a stock power unit, that was recently professionally rebuilt. Static lowering kits were installed in the front and back, lowering the car about 2 inches.
Tires were replaced in 2017 for a better appearing stance, and wheels are chromed Eagle 5 Spokes. New full size spare is in the refinished and roomy trunk. 1954 Mercurys also came with the clear double sided fluted tail lights that customizers still covet to this day. In addition, all chrome and stainless on the car is straight and show quality. Bumpers were also rechromed at time of restoration.
This car literally sparks conversation wherever it goes, and people revel at the clear top. Travels well down the highway as we make commutes to shows multiple times per year across the state of CO where it lives. Car is a comfortable and fun cruiser.
