Car description |
---|
For Sale is my low-mileage original 1964 Mercury Montclair. This is a 3-owner car that has lived its entire life in Oklahoma. The exterior and interior are un-restored.
The mileage listed is 61,580 and appears to be correct and supported by vehicle inspection certificates that's came with the car. I can email copies of the inspection certificates illustratingthe mileage through the years.
The car has the following options (all working):
Power steering
AM Radio
Power brakes
Electric clock
Air conditioning (has a small freon leak in evaporator under the dash and must be recharged); all new hoses and new compressor.
Power rear Breezeway window - unique to this model.
Padded dash - no cracks.
All lighting, interior and exterior, works
The engine, transmission, and suspension have been refreshed for drivability. The engine is a 2-bbl, FE 390 with automatic transmission and 3.00:1 rear end that has had the following work performed over the past 2 years:
Replaced valve seals
Replace intake manifold gasket
Resurfaced exhaust manifolds and replaced gaskets with copper
Replaced oil pump, fuel pump, alternator, and starter.
Has Pertronix coil and ignition
Rebuilt carburetor
Replace radiator coolant tank (original tank included in sale)
The Transmission was overhauled in 2017
Suspension and brake work were performed in 2015 (brake booster, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, resurface drums); tires are about 4 years old.
the chassis has dealer-applied undercoating still in place.
The car comes with a large binder that contains the original build sheet, receipts and inspection stickers (documenting the mileage) dating from the early 70's, and hotel receipts from the original owner's vacation trips.
This car starts right up EVERY time regardless of how long it has sat idle. It runs strong and shifts perfectly and is extremely comfortable to drive. The electric rear Breezeway window is really unique and lets natural ventilation flow through the interior of the cabin. The paint has the expected chips and dings of an unrestored car but presents itself very nicely. This natural patina can't be replicated and the son of the original owner has verified that the car has been garage-kept its entire life. The car drives and brakes straight and can be driven anywhere. If you are looking for a clean, affordable classic car that is dependable and retains the original finishes, you'd have a hard time finding a better example.
The car is sold where is; as-is with no warranty expressed, granted or implied. In-person inspections are welcome.
It is also for sale locally and the seller reserves the right to cancel this auction.
